only "cruel, cold-hearted people" would make fun of the mentally disabled.

Yet she continues to be an adamant defender of Limbaugh and his use of retard in a satirical context.

This woman is a walking contradiction.

What is your opinion of the family guy episode?

A lot of Family Guy's material is extremely cruel to real people and this episode is no different. I'll plead to Family Guy being a guilty pleasure of mine, but they repeatedly venture too far over the line.

One of the recurring characters is the son of the local news anchor with an upside down head. You could make a case they are mocking birth defects on a regular basis.

She isn't a walking contradiction, she is an opportunistic ideologue. Contradiction is the only way they can get ahead.

What is your opinion of the family guy episode?

I watched it. Chris falls in love with a Down Syndrome girl who says "My mom used to be governor of Alaska." Chris worships her and thinks she's beautiful. They go on a date and she turns into a complete jerk, bossing him around and acting like he should be grateful to be with him. Finally, when she says something like, "If you want any of this, you'd better do what I say," he gets mad, throws down the bowl of ice cream he got for her and says something like, "I'd always heard that Down Syndrome people were nice and loving and different from everybody else. Well, you're not. You're just as mean and evil as everyone else in the world." He then leaves.

I thought it was funny and true. In the media, you're never allowed to speak ill anymore of anyone who is mentally retarded. Everyone says how wonderful and special they are. That's glossing over the reality of who and how they are. I worked with several people with Down Syndrome when I was a bagger at Kroger in Atlanta. They were not nice all the time. They were just as mean and evil as anyone else in the world.

People love Family Guy and South Park until they rip on something close to your heart. If it bothers you when they do something like that, you're not grown-up enough to watch.

Family Guy makes fun of everyone and everything.

What is your opinion of the family guy episode?

Not their best work, though I'm not a big fan of the show. Less than half the episode featured the Down's girl and she was portrayed as a typical, moody high school girl who happens to have Down's.

The little jab at Palin is nothing compared to the South Park episode on the Special Olympics.

Suppose they did an episode about a moody high school kid that ended up being described as "just as mean and evil as anyone else in the world." Now suppose that the kid said his/her dad was a Spanish prof at <redacted because I'm not sure if you've ever said publicly> College in South Carolina. Would you think they were picking on your kid in an attempt to get to you?

I cringe when South Park and Family Guy do Jesus bits. I don't think that means I'm not grown up.

It was a valid discussion point on the issue, at least as it related to Palin's actual practices vs her alleged beliefs.

If Sarah Palin hadn't already exhibited such thin skin multiple times, people probably wouldn't dismiss her outrage this time when it's fairly justified.

But I'm so damn sick of Palin. Her interview with Chris Wallace which I believe was the same day as the interview when she was cribbing off her hand was also a disaster. 20% of this country absolutely adores her and another 20% would vote with the idiot 20% if she ran against Obama. Fortunately, there's no way in hell she could capture another 10% (or whatever would be needed for a plurality).

I've never this episode of Family Guy so this comment is really not worth anything but I'll make it anyway.

I grew up around people that were autistic and mentally retarded. Making fun of someone because of a disability they cannot control is horrible and tastless.

However, it sounds like this episode was more of a satirical piece focused on making fun of Palin and that the actual disability was not being mocked. Again, I don't know for sure but based on teh comments it appears that way. In taht light, the episode was probably borderline between funny and tasteless, which is probably exactly where Family Guy wants to be.

I wonder how her being paid by Fox News (Fox owned by Fox Broadcasting) will affect her decision. I think it was stupid and wrong. But if she truly was offended, then I say quit Fox news because of this.. That would make a big statement.
