Add forming a bipartisan commission on deficit reduction. Even if it's only for looks, it looks good.
Unlike many of the rest of my conservative brethren, I don't think Obama is evil or an idiot. I actually like him more than Clinton, though I think Clinton was better for the economy, because I think he actually has principles. My problem with Obama is that I disagree with his principles. I think smaller government is better than bigger government.
A commission whilst at the same time increasing our deficit to record highs?
I haven't followed this one closely. Why are the republicans blocking the formation of the commission. Someone said this morning because the commission was just cover for raising taxes.
If the commission was truly bi-partisan and they said to get out of this mess we have to raise taxes, well we have to raise taxes. Now if the commission came out with just raising taxes as the solution, then I would smell a rat. However, why not try and see what they come up with.
You bet it is. Speculation is that a VAT will be the recommendation. Obama and the democrats are increasing the debt in a totally partisan way and now want the GOP to get on board with paying for it? I don't think so. He wants his programs, he should pay for it. Republicans should stay away from this one.

I think that would be good. Especially if it gets income tax lowered or at least not increased.
Introducing a Sales tax was also effective in getting rid of the sitting government in Canada's case, so that wouldn't be bad either.
Aggressively continuing to pursue and ultimately taking out Bin Laden.
Agreed. I am no Obama fan but I give him props for this. Particularly since it was a) In Pakistan, a sovereign nation we are not at war with and b) it was done without telling them we were coming. That takes stones, no matter what your politics.
"It's true that everything happens for a reason. Just remember that sometimes that reason is that you did something really, really, stupid."
1. Keeping the pressure up in Afghanistan/Pakistan, leading to the arrest of Taliban numero dos.
2. Making nuclear power a viable option for the future.
I don't think either item will endear him to the far left. Let's see if he can keep up the move in the right direction -- like scrapping the proposed healthcare reform and starting from scratch.
One for 2 ain't bad, I guess.
Also, those off-shore drilling predictions were way off.
