    WH and Obama are delusional..

I'm sorry, but how can Obama and the WH seriously think the loss in Mass. was due to the fact they are not doing anything and the people are angry they haven't passed their agenda's??

Probably because I wrote them a letter to tell them that they were losing my support because they weren't passing a liberal agenda. Blame it on me.

Just the other day you said that the loss in Mass was a referendum on Obama. Now you're disagreeing with yourself?

I think what is being shown is people are sick of the idealogues. They are tired of the far right and the far left. Obama duped folks into believing he was in the center and was interested in bi-partisanship. I think they got caught up in their ability to "fool" people.

The best thing they could do is forget what the progressives are crying for and try to govern from the middle. If they do that and the republicans over play their hand by letting the extremists like Hannity, Beck and Limbaugh define who they are, they could be in good shape come this fall to maintain power.

Tim Tim. You know better. There was no referendum from me, only hope that he would see that he needs to change course and move left to center.. And stop shoving healthcare down our throats..

Looks like his arrogance or ignorance to reality is shinning through..

Jarret is obviously speaking for herself. Personally, I'm happy as can be that Obama, Pelosi and Reid have failed to force their health care bill through. I hope they keep failing in that regard.

I enjoy how people on both sides try to find ONE reason why the electorate is revolting against Obama. I would venture to say that health care, by itself, wouldn't have been as big of an issue without all of the other reasons. The other reasons why people are beginning to fear/loath the Obama administration/Democratic Congress have poisoned the health care issue for the Obama administration. Simply put, if people actually trusted Obama and the Democratic Congress, the health care bill wouldn't have become so unpopular in the first place. People distrust Obama/Congress because of the following reasons:

                      1. The stimulus bill from February 09. Obama prematurely ended his honeymoon (well, Pelosi and Reid prematurely ended it for Obama), with this steaming pile of bullshit. The bill was correctly and effectively labeled by opponents as largely a payoff to Democratic constituencies. The bill was also passed with little to no debate. Not a single GOP House member voted for it and only three GOP senators (one has now flipped parties) voted for it. In other words, the Democrats own this bill.

                      2. Promises made during the short debate for the stimulus bill. Obama's administration said that unemployment would stop at 8% if the bill was passed. Well, the bill was passed and unemployment is now at over 10%. Politicians can be forgiven for minor oversights and predictions that turn out to be spectacularly false, but this was a biggie. The stimulus bill was not some minor piece of legislislation, it's costing the government over $700 billion dollars. Translation: you can't trust Obama to get the big things right. Just like Iraq was an albatross for Bush, this stimulus bill is an albatross for Obama.

                      3. Payoffs and preferential treatment to Democratic constituencies. Somewhat related to the stimulus bill discussion from above, but the combination of the favorable treatment afforded to union members in the auto bailout and being offered to "Cadillac" health plans provided to union members reeks of simple bribery to a faction that's favorable to the Democrats to the detriment of everyone else.

                      4. Out of control spending. Again, this is related to reason #1 above. The big tent issue for the GOP has always been the reputation for limiting spending and bringing sanity to the way government is run. The GOP Congress and George W. Bush largely destroyed this reputation. When the GOP is forced to run simply on social conservative platform while giving away the fiscal conservatism platform, it will consistently lose outside of the South. Obama sold people on a bill of goods that included sensible government that would be fiscally responsible. People can still recall the Clinton years, so we were inclined to believe the Democrats could do this. Obama has effectively given this issue back to the GOP.

                      5. Health Care. I think Obama could have gotten a bill passed if the four factors above weren't in play. I think it's impossible to determine why the attempts at health care reforme failed without looking at: a) the way the Democrats shoved a big spending piece of legislation through Congress with little to no thought; b) a certain sense of corruption given off by the administration as evidence by its brazen preferential treatment given to its constituencies; c) a lack of confidence in the decision making ability and predictions coming out of the White House; and d) the out of control spending related to other bills. The Health Care bill and exasperated all of these factors.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

My take is pretty simple. Dems don't like him because he's not doing most of what he said he would. Republicans don't like him because he is doing a little bit of what he said he would, is sort of trying to do a little of the rest of it, and because they're trained to hate him regardless of what he does.

Please note, statman, dabrockster, et. al. This is how you argue your point effectively. No histrionics. No wringing of hands. This is a fairly well-done description of one take on the current "problems" facing Obama. I respect this opinion. The hippo closes his mouth to CMBF and allows him to pass this portion of dthe Nile.
