I wonder how many of those interview clips with the apostles were taken out of context. I have a had time beliving that President Monson's remarks about "nothing on this earth that can defeat us" were in reference to Prop 8, or even homosexuality. My guess is that they weren't.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

This is awesome. I'm astounded by the general ignorance that most LDS have as it relates to the real-life impact the church has had on a lot of very good people. Good for Emily, Bruce and Reed! I just hope the movie is fact-based as the facts are enough of an indictment.

I tend to agree with you, most LDS supporters of Prop 8 probably dont' have a real idea of how deeply this affects gay people. However, I doubt that the movie is "fact-based."Originally posted by Viking View PostThis is awesome. Looks like it is just as much fact based as Fahrenheit 9/11 was, based on the trailer.Originally posted by Viking View PostThis is awesome. Here is the context:Originally posted by falafel View Postwhat about the quote I mentioned, for one?
Be of Good Cheer
He does make a reference that Prop 8 could be lumped in with in his opening paragraph:
The snippet from the film comes at the very end of the talk:Since last we met together in a general conference six months ago, there have been continuing signs that circumstances in the world aren’t necessarily as we would wish. The global economy, which six months ago appeared to be sagging, seems to have taken a nosedive, and for many weeks now the financial outlook has been somewhat grim. In addition, the moral footings of society continue to slip, while those who attempt to safeguard those footings are often ridiculed and, at times, picketed and persecuted. Wars, natural disasters, and personal misfortunes continue to occur.
To imply this quote is about Prop 8 is quite a stretch.I testify to you that our promised blessings are beyond measure. Though the storm clouds may gather, though the rains may pour down upon us, our knowledge of the gospel and our love of our Heavenly Father and of our Savior will comfort and sustain us and bring joy to our hearts as we walk uprightly and keep the commandments. There will be nothing in this world that can defeat us.
My beloved brothers and sisters, fear not. Be of good cheer. The future is as bright as your faith.
I declare that God lives and that He hears and answers our prayers. His Son, Jesus Christ, is our Savior and our Redeemer. Heaven’s blessings await us. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen."In conclusion, let me give a shout-out to dirty sex. What a great thing it is" - Northwestcoug

“The time between now and Election Day will be a sprint and not a marathon. Now is the time for us to shine in this magnificent cause. I testify to you, there will be nothing in this world that can defeat us.”
