I would love to participate if it is a pure dump on the Eagle Forum thread. If it is just another thread to feel bad about losing Bennett from the Senate, I think those from other states should be banned from participating.Originally posted by Jarid in Cedar View PostNo shit. Maybe we need to start a "Thanks Eagle Forum!" thread. It would be a nice dumping ground.

Deseret News. It reminded me of 1976, when, as as young 21 year-old RM, I supported Gerald Ford against Ronald Reagan. (I later became a happy Reagan supporter.) I was just an idealistic, inexperienced young guy getting involved in politics in an unimportant state. I will never forget the state Republican convention that year, and seeing middle-aged men screaming at me, red-faced, 6 inches from my nose, because I chose to support the sitting President of the U.S. against Reagan. They shouldn't be. In California I am a mainstream conservative Republican. In Utah I am a squishy moderate, I guess.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostIs anyone else troubled by the fact that LA doesn't identify himself with the Republcian party's "more extreme bases"?“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

I still don't buy that the "right wing wacko's" are responsible for Bennet's demise. To test my theory, I walked around the office asking what they thought of losing Bennett. Interesting, most of the staff, mainly smart gals, didn't even know what I was talking about.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostDeseret News. The investment advisors, that's what we call ourselves, most of them said he got too cozy with Washington insiders and deserved the boot. These aren't right wing, religious wacko types. OUt of 12 of them, maybe 5 attend church on a regular basis and 4 of the 5 are Ute fans. There are two liberal leaning guys in here. Both of them said it is further proof right wing nuts run Utah. Of course they never have nor would they vote for Bennett.

You're right. Knowing nut jobs like you puts LA in perspective. The poor Republican party.Originally posted by il Padrino Ute View PostWhy should that be troubling? When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

You're onto something here BYU 71
The unifying factor in all of these so-called 'beheadings' is fiscal conservatism. Many of the Tea Partiers are full-on libertarians who would be perfectly content to legalize gay marriage, prostitution and weed and various combinations of the three.Originally posted by byu71 View PostI still don't buy that the "right wing wacko's" are responsible for Bennet's demise. But what unites all Tea Partiers (of which I am not one, but I can see how the movement gets misrepresented) is that they're sick of legislators pussyfooting (an expression which is far less vulgar than it sounds in 2010, though it would almost certainly get me banned from CB) on correcting their toxic spending habits and careening in some places (CA) and fumbling in others toward the same insolvency we see in Greece right now.
The Tea Party movement is about demanding that unsustainable spending habits be corrected - and that anything that might be harmful to America's economic health be rejected until we're on solid fiscal footing.Ute-ī sunt fīmī differtī
