Someone needs to talk to Bro Beck about his timing.

On his monday morning show he compared the Norwegian youth camp to a Hitler Youth Camp.

What are your thoughts about this? It would seem that the camp was hostile toward the Jewish state of Israel.

I don't have any real thoughts on the camp one way or the other. Its not how I would chose to spend my summer vacation and I won't be signing my kids up anytime soon.

While Beck may be just "saying it like it is", I think his timing is terribly inappropriate. Here you have a nation that is mourning the loss of 77 of their own, many of which were innocent kids, and he has to bring up the thought they were little Hitlers-in-training.

I say just let them mourn their dead and the loss of their innocence. Once the sting of the tragedy begins to ease, if he then wants to address the actual politics of the Labor Party and of the camp, then by all means, go for it. Just don't do it hours after the shooting before they even have a chance to bury their dead.

I get the reference, obviously, but funny you say that. My thought was that it's just a stone's throw from what Beck did to the actual language and rationale the Nazis used for killing women and children at Auschwitz.

Good find, I enjoy Jay's insights, a very bright conservative who seems to get it.

In all honesty, I am having a harder and harder time seeing the distinction between Beck's rhetoric on liberals and Hitler's rhetoric on Jews. At least the early Hitler years.

I have no idea what the camps over there are like, so I won't comment directly on them, but I found it odd that some Mormons have pointed accusatory fingers at these camps, accusing them of indoctrinating their youth and being inappropriate. This from a group whose youth spend much of their summer in EFY, Pioneer Trek, Youth Conference, etc.

(Full disclosure, my kids have done all of the above in the last two summers)
