One of the mormon mommies who was on the front lines of this advocacy grew up in my little burg. She has 3 siblings still living here along with her parents. Her mother assumed the conch in open mike sunday past. It was a conviction of the goodness of the plants that the Almighty provided us that even Bob Marley would have shouted out Amens with the most ardent of believers.

I believe in the legalization mostly because I am a Libertarian. But I do find interesting the mormon trend to make every cause to which one is invested somehow the will of God in the eye of the mormon. Wherever we attach a shoulder to the wheel, that cart is carrying God's wishes!

It will pass next year, but the first step is to get a sponsor that is a wee bit more respected. The mormon mommy's need a better lobbyist.

That we're even debating this is stupid. My mind was made up when I was going through chemo and couldn't find a drug that would cut my nausea and my oncologist told me that marijuana might be able to help. Given the cocktail of other drugs I was taking at the time, it was idiotic that marijuana was unavailable to me.

I worked with a guy whose wife was going through her third bout of chemo for melanoma. She was having lots of problems with nausea and loss of appetite. *Her oncologist mentioned that marijuana would probably help ease her symptoms and said it was unfortunate that it wasn't legal. He repeated this several times. My co-worker took it to mean that the oncologist was suggesting to give it a try, but to be mindful that it is illegal. He somehow tracked down a kid in his neighborhood who sells it and he made pot brownies for her. He was an active member of church as well.

So if they have MM in Utah it may actually help the missionary program. With all the missionaries that go home early because of anxiety the MP at the MTC could just have a giant bong or a plate full of brownies in his office and solve the problem.

I think you just came up with a brilliant idea. But I wouldn't put the MTC in charge of the MM brownies. When my kids were in the MTC, we found it far easier to order brownies and assorted goods from a Provo vendor to be delivered pretty much the next day to the MTC. Saved us from all the baking or purchasing and then the mailing and waiting. You need to be the first to offer the "enhanced" brownie service to the MTC.

Our marketing manager grew up in Durbain, South Africa. His younger brother has some pretty serious depression/anxiety issues. Starting his junior high age years he started self-medicating with ganja that he grew himself on their homestead back in the Beloved Country - occasionally discovered by the hired hands as all white folk in SA had hired hands back in the them days. He went on a mission in the late 90's and the issues became more pronounced. His MP was a psychiatrist with a background and significant experience in these issues and was able to identify the symptoms. He allowed the Elder to self-medicate/decompress with occasional alcohol binges and was in contact with his family about it. I guess only "mature" elders could serve with him to ensure 1.) they didn't join him and 2.) they were able to keep an eye on him and get him back to their flats to sleep it off before re-dedicating themselves to sickle-thrusters.
