My vote was 2:1 for mountain bike, especially on a trail surface, but I got out-voted in the poll. I didn't push too hard, but maybe I should have lobbied a little harder.sigpic

Blame me. I didn't really put much thought into how hard it is to climb a trail on a 50-lb bike since I only ride on the road. I should have paid better attention.Originally posted by cowboy View PostMy vote was 2:1 for mountain bike, especially on a trail surface, but I got out-voted in the poll. mtnbiker, I've added you to the list.

As Creek suggested, I'm down with the cyclists. I haven't been on a bike in over two weeks, and my daily regimen has consisted of eating bangers and mash, along with following my wife around to various scenes from Pride and Prejudice. We'll be home tomorrow and will commence a crash rehab program so we can keep up with others at the Tour de Tahoe.

It's a function of time for me. I enjoy cycling much more than I do running. But my life as it is currently set-up is not conducive to cycling. So, I do the best with what I have. Since I have St. George coming up I'll be running A LOT over the next 2 1/2 months.Originally posted by beelzebabette View PostDone, but I have to admit I'm crushed the man with a Lemond avatar thinks of himself as a runner first and cyclist second.

This is like some bizarre scene in a movie where a character you've never seen starts talking like he's been there all along and you're sitting there asking yourself "do I know this guy?"Originally posted by scall View PostCount me in with the cyclists.
So how about a few more details on what we are supposed to do to report our numbers and how often we should report.
Oh, and welcome scall.

You do realize rule #3 says you can participate in any activity you want (swim/bike/run). You just have to choose a team.Originally posted by SteelBlue View PostIt's a function of time for me. I'm not trying to get you to change your mind. I just want to make sure you're not choosing running only because that's what you expect to spend more time doing over the course of the competition. You can be in either group and still train for your marathon.

Great. I'll get the google spreadsheet up tonight or tomorrow morning and have a formal kickoff announcement clarifying the rules.Originally posted by scall View PostCount me in with the cyclists.

Sorry about that, l've lurked over here for a few months. A few of the regulars here know me from Cougarboard. BBB asked me to join up with the cyclists to try and even out the teams. Since I ride in the mornings and this will motivate me to get back on track after taking a week off I figured I'd join in.Originally posted by SteelBlue View PostThis is like some bizarre scene in a movie where a character you've never seen starts talking like he's been there all along and you're sitting there asking yourself "do I know this guy?"

I'll go on whichever team will take me. Or which team makes it the most even.
So let me get this straight. If I am on the runners team. I can still cycle and count those miles? or can I only count running miles. I am a better runner than cyclist, but I count on doing a lot more cycling miles in teh near future, so I am unclear as to which direction to choose.
Oh and JL may be at hte same conference as me in San diego, so if I see him, I'll ask him.

The way I understand it, you just pick your team based on which sport you prefer or want to be a part of. Points or miles can accumulate from either activity.Originally posted by BigPiney View PostI'll go on whichever team will take me. Or which team makes it the most even.

IOW, if you're on the cycling team, you can still count your running miles to the team total.
