Who's running? What legs? When do you start? What's your team name?

I'm running legs 10, 22, and 34. I ran Van 1 last year and I have to say, the sleep schedule for van 1 is much better. They're off 10 pm - 4 am and we're off 4 am - 7 am. This could be rough.

We're not breaking any records as the other van has a couple of really slow people and our van's pretty average. We start at 7:50 am and will probably finish between 12 and 1 the next day.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

An ER doc complaining about sleep schedule: you know it's gotta be pretty bad.

I would like to do it next year. I didn't really look into it this year because I didn't think I could be in good enough shape to do it. I probably am now, but oh well.

My wife is running it with some friends.

I'll have to ask her what legs she is running and her team name.

I'm in but can't remember our team name. I'm in van 1 running legs 6, 18, and 30. I'd say let's all try to get together, but I imagine it will be difficult enough trying to keep track of where our own teams are at.

Yeah, it's kind of a zoo and there's no way you could (or would want to) stick together. But it would be fun to keep an eye out for each other's teams. We seemed to run into the same few teams through the whole race. I ran legs 1, 13, 25 last year. IIRC, 6 was a pretty rugged downhill down Avon Pass but the rest of it wasn't too bad.

Our team is Rocky Mountain Quick Step.

EDIT: Never mind...18's not easy either. I think they've lengthened that one this year.

Yeah, the funny part about that is that there is another ER doc on my same van and everyone's rationale is that "they don't need the sleep". Guess why we have bags under our eyes all the time? We're constantly sleep-deprived. We need the sleep.

Exactly. After the course changes, my #18 leg went from 5.2 miles, +494 ft elevation gain (that's uphill, for those who don't know) to 8.1 miles, +604 ft gain (sure, no problem, geez). My #6 leg didn't change, and my last leg only changed from 3.6 miles to 3.1 miles.

My wife is running it with a bunch of women from Vegas. Their team is called Runs N' Roses. She's never ran it before, and I think she's crazy. I don't know what legs she has, but I think she has an early 5 mile one, and ends on an 8 miler. They start around 9 am I think.

                    She might be doing 3, 15, 27?

If you're a runner at all, this is a fun one. Last year was the funnest time I've ever had in a race. And it goes through absolutely amazing scenery.

                      I'm in.

I'm runner 11, with legs of 3.8 miles very hard, 7.3 miles hard, and 7.3 miles very hard. Honestly, I think they classified my 2nd and 3rd as hard and very hard just because of the distance, but they will be fine. The 1st one is straight uphill for 3 miles.

Our team name is "Our Wives Think We're At Work". I'm in Van 2. If any of you see our van, ask for Shane and say hi. I'm going to do the blogging thing again like I did last year. It ended up being fun to go back and read it.

Our whole team is going to our cabin the night before to hang out, I'm looking forward to it.

Dude, we start at 7:30 I think. We should be seeing each other out there. What's your team name? We'll probably be waiting at Liberty Park about the same time.

If you have trail shoes, bring them for your first leg, it's extremely rocky. It's a fun leg, though, and a great view of Ogden valley.

My wife's doing your leg. I was going to do 11 and had her on 10 first, but she didn't want to do the "Ragnar" leg, so she wanted to trade. I warned her that the first leg is almost as steep, but she didn't like the idea of running uphill in the dust. I still think 11's harder than 10.

We're Rocky Mountain Quick Step. I'm guessing we'll be leaving Liberty Park around 1:45 or 1:50. The other van is REALLY slow. Organized by my wife's friend, and all I requested was 9:00 milers, so that we didn't have to run the second afternoon. Instead we've got a 10:00, 11:00, and a 12:00 miler on that van. My wife keeps hitting me to bite my tongue about it and I will, as long as they finish how they're projected so I don't have to Ragnar in the heat.

Incidentally, my wife was good friends with Marshae (I can never remember how to spell her name...) in Ft Wayne.

Yep, that's how you spell it.

I'll PM you my cell next week. If you guys want to come and wait at our cabin, you would be more than welcome. There's plenty of room, and it's just a couple of minutes to drive to the park. If your team is going slow, our first van is going to go back to the cabin after their first legs, so there will still be people there. At least you won't have to wait in the heat.
