At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

Oh, man. And you've been up on it, right? Here's hoping for a successful surgery and a complete and speedy recovery.

That sucks. Hope you recover quickly. Is it because of the fragments? Looked nasty.

I'm having better luck. I found an old brace and strapped it on this afternoon. I can't jog, but I got a 5 mile walk in with little discomfort. Puffed up some afterwards and is stiff tonight, but hopefully I'll be able to get through this without completely shutting it down.

        • Good luck ER and CJF. That sucks you guys got hurt and I hope you both get back to where you were soon. I don't envy either one of you. It is always amazing to me how 1 step out of a million can have such a lasting impact sometimes.

I was pathetic in this this thing, but I probably would have done nothing without the nudge. I had a goal to hit 100 miles, which should have been easy, but I did not even come close. The 2nd week of the New Year I am hoping to turn over a new leaf and get 90 good days of working out in.

          • It's not the fragments that are the problem, it's the ankle. The tissue connecting the bottom of the tibia and fibula was torn. My orthopod suspected it, but the initial x rays of the ankle looked normal. But it was feeling really unstable any time I put any weight on it, so he looked again under fluoro last night. So surgery. Which kills my marathon in May. Eff.

Get well soon and I hope it doesn't spoil your Christmas.

As of this morning we have blown through Bakersfield and are less than 200 miles from Petco (or is it ATT Park?). Whatever the name of the park, we are almost there. If everyone updates their miles (I'm looking at you Pippy-D) and we put in a long run or two we'll be there before kickoff.....then we can all head over to PAC's mansion and spend New Years in his ginormous pool.

Well, then go out and run 100 miles

                      • We are now pretty much past Fresno. We've got about 120 miles left. I'll try and get in a decent bike ride in the morning but my long run isn't until Saturday and I don't want to do a back to back run for fear of my inevitable stress fractures.

How does 10 sound? I have 11 tomorrow, and 2000 meters in the pool. 4 miles running and 40 cycling on Sat, and 20 miles running on Sunday. By my count that's about 50 right there.

                          • Well if we didn't have to take that big ole detour down to Houston, we would already be there! Can't you meet us in Dallas at the very least?

I put in 6 + miles tonight and will get another 5 -10 tomorrow before I take off for the 3 1/2 hour drive to the game. It looks like it's going to go down to the wire.

As of this morning we are just outside of Patterson. Only a little more to go to reach Livermore (I used to have family that lived there). We are literally (well, make-believe literally) about 60 miles from the stadium. Will we make it?

                              • ER, sorry to hear about the surgery. Maybe they can implant some Heelies in there and you'll kill your next full.

I need to log some mileage and will go do that.
I have nothing else to say at this time.
