I have a much easier time running in the morning both because it is cooler and because when I get home, I am used to relaxing and spending time with my kids and I have a hard time getting motivated to go out to run."I don't mind giving the church 10% of my earnings, but 50% of my weekend mornings? Exactly! My body loves running in the morning. I just have to convince my brain that I should go at 6 am. Once I start, I love it and it is a beautiful way to start the day.

That's about right. I dragged myself out (6:30 today for me) and ran my miles. It was a slightly slower than usual pace, but that was a mental thing because I definitely had some left in the tank.Originally posted by Coach McGuirk View PostExactly! I did play basketball from 9:00 to 11:00 last night and only got about five hours of sleep, so I wonder if that had an effect too.Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

I think there's your answer right there. When I used to play ball at night, I was dragging the next morning, whether it was running or on the bike. I feel the same way if I ride the bike on the trainer at night and then try to go running in the morning. It feels like I'm wearing 5 pound ankle weights.Originally posted by nikuman View PostI did play basketball from 9:00 to 11:00 last night and only got about five hours of sleep, so I wonder if that had an effect too.

That's the feeling, alright. And it better go away if I am to have a hope of fending you off for the last few days our challenge.Originally posted by bluegoose View PostI think there's your answer right there. Rats! I was hoping that you weren't paying attention. I actually thought of you this morning as I cut my run short a mile. Enjoy second place. I've always like bronze better anyhow.Originally posted by nikuman View PostThat's the feeling, alright. Now that I know that you are aware that I was sneaking up behind you, I've decided to conceed second place and take the next week off. So I would suggest that you do the same. Start a new book, do some scrapbooking, generally just let your legs rest up a bit for next months challenge.

Lol. I started paying attention as soon as I noticed that Sea Chicken had obliterated us all. I'd give you my planned runs for the week if I didn't know you'd go out of your way to beat them. I had a 15 mile gap last week, and it's now been closed to about 6, no? My wife will vouch that I actually screamed out "take that, bluegoose!" after I got home from a particularly good 7 miler.Originally posted by bluegoose View PostRats! Thats pretty funny. I've got this sneaking suspicion that SteelBlue hasn't synced his ipod lately. He's saving them all for next week just before the challenge ends.Originally posted by nikuman View PostLol. I started paying attention as soon as I noticed that Sea Chicken had obliterated us all. I had a public challenge last year before our November marathon in which this one gal did exactly that to steal second place from me once again on the last day. Always a bridesmaid, never a bride, or even a maid-of-honor.

Oh well. At least I made my own personal goal of 75 miles in four weeks. Third place ain't bad in this crowd anyway, especially with only two months of running in the last 10 years.Originally posted by bluegoose View PostThats pretty funny. I just look at my exercise log. I've had the nikeplus for 2 years now and I've only logged 75 miles in a month 5 times.Originally posted by nikuman View PostOh well. Thats pretty amazing what you've done, especially with no injuries to speak of.

It was all about the ramp up. I was very, very careful not to overdo it at first. My first month was the equivalent of one of my weeks right now.Originally posted by bluegoose View PostI just look at my exercise log. Now I have to hold myself back from running on my scheduled rest days. Or running at night when I already did it in the morning. Or when I hear Metallica songs (that's the bulk of my running playlist). I wish I would have loved running this much when I was on the track team in HS. I would have seriously been at least an all region performer. As it was, I was lazy and slow.Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

It's still hurting a bit when I walk, so I may have to take a few days offOriginally posted by ewth8tr View PostI felt fine yesterday and last night, but for some reason when I woke up this morning, my left knee hurt. I'm assuming that I just slept on it wrong, at least I am hoping that is what it is. I tried to run this morning, hoping that as I loosened it up that it would go away, but after about a half mile it was still painful, so I cut the run short and went home and iced it and put an ace bandage on it.
. It's a small but somewhat sharp pain on the inside lower part of my knee. I've been looking online and I think (hope) it is bursitis.

First guess is it could be bursitis or possibly pes anserine tendonitis. Shouldn't be anything too serious that a few days off can't fix. (famous last words)Originally posted by ewth8tr View PostIt's still hurting a bit when I walk, so I may have to take a few days off

That does sound like pes anserine bursitis. I had that 2 years ago. It required 2 weeks rest and a lot of stretching to get rid of it.Originally posted by bluegoose View PostFirst guess is it could be bursitis or possibly pes anserine tendonitis. h8r, boardmail me if you want a good stretch for that.
