Also keep in mind that you might be gaining muscle due to the exercise. Perhaps last week you lost 6 lbs of fat while putting on 5 lbs of muscle, for a net loss of only 1 lb.

Keep up the good work. Once again, you have inspired me and I am working on my own weight loss goals. It looks like I will get to see your results in person in a few weeks.

        Update:

I only lost 1 pound last week as well. I was hoping for 2. But I am sticking with it. I can run for longer, jump higher, and stretch further. I feel good about that. I have reinforced some older goals that I think will help with the weight loss. Like I want to eat about 4 or 5 times a day (this seems to help curb huge portions at dinner for me). And I want to be done eating for the day at 8 p.m. When I know I should eat a couple hundred more calories I have been eating a skinny cow ice cream sandwich or a pudding at like 10 or 11 p.m. Even though my calorie balance more than allows it, I think it is a bad habit for me.

So here comes another week. Except Surfah will gone for the next 9 days and we will not be able to work out together in the mornings. This will be a real test for us. More for him as he has to try and eat out and keep his calories low and make good food choices. It will be easier for me as I will still be at home. This si the first real break from our routine so far, wish us luck!

You know if y'all really want to make a dent start using stones as your unit of measurement and then just pretend they're pounds. That's what I do.

I have been hesitating posting my progress. I don't know why. It is good. But I think I feel like if I write it down and post it out there on the web than I will jinx myself or something, but here goes . . .

I weighed myself a few weeks before I went to Oregon. So that was the first week of February sometime. Since then I have lost 12 lbs. I think my first few pounds dropped off quick when I stopped drinking Coke Classic, and the next few were from when I got the bacterial infection in my intestines and didn't eat or drink for a couple days. I am not trying to withhold giving myself any credit for this weight loss, but 12 pounds in 10 weeks is a lot, and I wasn't working out or watching my diet that whole time. I can say that at least 6 pounds have come of in the last 5 weeks, and I am really proud of that. Only 8 more pounds to reach my goal.

I still have a little mommy pooch but I think with continued workouts (abs, pilates) and eating right I will see that get better. Maybe never fully go away but it is already so much better, I can tell by my clothes. Today I wore a pair of pants that two months ago were uncomfortable to button and now they don't even stay up on my body. THAT made me feel great. Luckily my jeans still fit. When they get too big there is no way Surfah is going to let me replace my sevenforallmankind collection. So I have no idea where to find cute jeans that aren't crazy expensive.

I can run for way longer than I could a few months ago too. Seems like after a mile I would be dying to stop, now I go a couple and still feel like running! And I hate running! I think when I get to my goal weight (8 more pounds to go) I want to try the crazy P90X thing (anyone done that or heard of it?), but I need to do some more research on that.

Anyway, just wanted to let you all know how, even for a thin girl, eating right and working out can still help you get into shape, and I am seeing results! Who knew!

Gidget is looking too good these days.

She makes it seem like she's big, but truth is she was skinny before the diet and workouts. She's just getting toned now. I can't see the 8 additional pounds she wants to lose.

Update: So the trip to NYC went well. As I mentioned I was kind of scared about how to manage my workouts and diet with so much food and my company credit card at my disposal. But I didn't miss a day of workouts and even opted to walk rather than take the subway most places. I was scared about meals so I bought lots of fresh fruit and Danon Fit & Light yogurt. That and oatmeal consisted of most of my breakfast and snacks throughout the day. I ate lots of salads. I bought some good bread and deli cut turkey for a sandwich daily for lunch. I was starting to get bored though with my diet and am glad to be back home. I was so scared of eating poorly that I didn't allow much variety in my dinners.

I am now on the 6th week of the circuit training program I started on. I have yet to miss a day and even woke at 5am to workout last Friday as I knew I'd be working and traveling and it'd be tough to workout once I arrived home.

My goal was to come home in the 260's. This morning I weighed in at 266.6. That is 22.2 lbs lost in 5 weeks time. The best part is that others are starting to take notice. I bumped into a guy I worked with in November of last year and the first thing he said to me was "Man, you've lost weight!"

I am 22.8 lbs away from my goal of 245 by my sister's wedding the last weekend of June. It's a lofty goal, but I am going to keep pushing myself until I get there and then it's on to 220.

Surfah, how cool. That is great news. I bet having someone tell you that they are noticing your weight loss was a total rush.

You mentioned one thing that has resonated with me in my efforts....diet fatigue. After awhile, you can only eat so much yogurt or turkey patties.

Do some research and find different foods and combos that will work for you. Don't be afraid to mix in good food here and there, just watch your portions and balance it out with a lighter meal later in the evening. Whatever you do, keep it up until you hit your goal. Nice job.

Gidget and me have set aside Sunday as kind of a cheat day. We don't go crazy and I still track my calories, but I am much less restrictive. Sunday works well for us since we don't work out, it's really a cheat day. I am afraid if it were any other day, I'd over-exercise to balance out the calories. Another benefit is that we don't eat out on Sunday so I am not consuming lots of calories through enriched foods.

At home it's easier for me to eat a variety of foods and just restrict the portions to meet my caloric goals. At restaurants, I seem to have a harder time, probably because subconsciously I am thinking that I paid x amount so I need to eat this all to get my money's worth. Even when it's not my money and I am putting all these meals on my expense account I still have that I need to eat it all mentality. That's a tough one for me to break. I think that is why my diet was so bland. I did mix it up some. I allowed myself pizza twice. Also ate beef bulgogi a few times. Ate steak with a potato and broccoli twice as well. But there were lots of salads.

                      • When I go out to eat, I try to plan on bringing half the meal home in a doggie bag. Half of a restaurant meal usually = one regular meal for a person eating sensibly.

                        • Update: Another week and I am just past the half way point. I am down to 263 now. Have lost 25.8 lbs. And only have 18 lbs left to lose to reach my goal with 6 weeks to go until my sister's wedding in Utah.

I feel great. I feel more confident. The diet and calorie counting has come easy it seems lately. Last week my sister came home with her fiance to go through the temple. FN Phat and his family came up from Kentucky also. So we had a weekend of amazing food with desserts every night. I think the most calories I consumed was about 2300 during that period. I am very proud of that.

I am still working out. I did 9.5 miles on the elliptical the other night. Still continuing the circuit training program and have yet to miss a day. I stretch, do push-ups, and sit ups while vegging in front of the TV. I try and get out of the house more and do more active things with my daughter.

I think once I reach my goal weight of 245 I'll start running with Gidget. I'd like to get lighter so my joints don't take such a pounding. I also hope to start lifting seriously. Right now, all of my strength training is plyometric or part of my circuit training with 5 lb weights (lunges, squats, punches, lateral raises, shoulder presses, etc). Someday I am going to post pics to make Pelagius proud.

I need to average 3 pounds a week from here on out to hit my goal. I expect to do it.
