  • A couple of other rules issues we ought to address...
Recruiting, aka the Archaea rule--how involved do people need to be on the board to enter a team? I'm sort of fine with an exception for arch, but it'll bug me if he's the difference between us winning and losing. As for others? Minimum number of posts? Merely registered on the board? I'd move for active members (say, >50 posts) and their spouses.

Activities - I suggested fitness as primary goal earlier, but that seems sort of vague. How about aerobic (HR>120) and strength training? I don't think casual walks around the neighborhood with the family should count. Neither should leisurely hiking. If you push it, i.e. a little breathless or your HR >120, then count it; otherwise, I'm thinking of all kinds of activities that will work their way in, especially if it's close.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

How about spouses? I'm trying to get my wife involved also.

I'm gonna go ahead and say yes, spouses can play.

          And I'm in charge!

Anyone get the feeling that game night at the ER home can be pretty intense?

Isn't the calorie count reflect in those activities? IOW, a 30 minute stroll burns far fewer calories that the same time in running/jogging/cycling. I think you have to let those activites stand. If someone is willing to sacrifice 2 hours of their weekend to a long stroll, their efforts need to be recognized and counted.

Geez, sounds like your HR might go over 120 BPM just thinking about this competition. DU calme, frere, its just a friendly event.
                    PLesa excuse the tpyos.

                          This!

By small and simple things are great things brought to pass!

Changing lifestyles in general is about the little things. If the little things help someone towards being more fit, they should definitely be recognized.

After reading all the hubbub over how to calculate points and what counts and which teams are fair, I have decided that the CUF Fitness challenge is a little too serious for me. I hope to someday be driven to exercise by the sheer desire to destroy my fellow message board participants but for now I just don't have the fire.

Wimp. You just don't want to on a team associated with Utah.

Untrue. If we had a team of people that live here but don't want to, I would love to be on it!
