You and me both (same weight goal). I'm in, although I already have a head start as I've been working on it for a couple weeks now.

What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

I'm at 173, and would like to get to 165. I'm hoping a better exercise regiment does the trick, because I don't think I can reasonably do anything else to improve my diet.

I usually go to a health food place about 400 S State in Orem. Their price on synth6 was really high but prices on other protein are good.

            That's only 8 pounds. Disqualified.

This past fall I stopped exercising but dramatically changed my diet. The result, I lost about 15 lbs in 6 weeks. The diet change was simple. I cut out refined sugar. I didn't buy a book or listen to tapes or buy a supplement, I just started reading ingredients lists and determined what had sugar or corn syrup. I then dropped that food or replaced it with one where the substitution was honey or wine or something. The results were amazing. Frankly, I dramatically increased the amount I was eating but the type of thing I was eating changed and I lost weight like crazy.

I went off the diet over the holidays but I'm going back on it as I start to get in shape for the summertime. This time I'll be at the gym as well as skipping sugar. Count me in for 10 lbs.

Besides the weight loss, did you notice an increase in energy? I have been without refined sugar for 4 weeks now. Also, cut out soda. I used to drink a lot of diet coke. Now, just water, herbal tea, sometimes a san pellegrino.

Anyhow, I feel much better. Way more energy. Cutting out diet coke and refined sugars has shrunk my appetite in half. Go figure.

Count me in for the 10 lb challenge!

Same here. I have not had a soda in a few weeks, and I'm getting my carbs almost exclusively from whole grains, fruit, and occasionally honey or maple syrup (in oatmeal). I feel magnificent. I have dropped sizable weight without sacrificing training (ftr, I'm keeping meticulous track of calorie amounts and sources).

This worked for me in the last challenge. I lost 10 lbs by mostly eating a lot of fruit (Doesn't really cut down on sugar, but I guess it isn't the bad sugar) and stopped eating processed stuff. I take 3 pieces of fruit with me to work everyday.

I also got rid of breakfast cereal in the morning. I now usually have a glass of milk and a banana. Even though I didn't usually eat a lot of sugar cereal, even the more nutritious stuff has a lot of calories.

I didn't really get rid of eating junk food, but with all the fruit, I'm craving it a lot less.

Besides that I still pig out at lunch and dinner with homemade meals.

I've never been a pop drinker.

2 things that have help me are the food co-ops. There are always lots of fruits and veggies in the fridge). The other is dinner swap, where you find 3 other families that you trust and swap nights making dinner for each other. That way we get well prepared home cooked meals more often. I was skeptical of it at first, but it has generally worked out pretty well.

Would anyone be up for (in conjunction with the 10 pound challenge) a sugar challenge where we see who can go the longest without consuming processed sugar? Sort of like that Seinfeld challenge...

I was at my thinnest when I almost entirely cut out processed sugar and refined carbohydrates. I did it for about a year. It was hard to do and I could use some motivation to do it again.

given the amount of running you do, Im shocked that you are going through macros. I would assume you could basically eat anything and burn right through it. Dont get me wrong, I'm all for eliminating the junk.

I will echo what has been said here already...losing the soda, candy, fast food/fried food is one of the easiest and most impactful things you can do for your diet/weight loss regimen.

My weight can change 9 pounds in a matter of 2 or 3 days, so this goal doesn't really work for me. But really, 10 pounds is that I want to lose. So my slight modification is that I will lose 10 pound and maintain and not exceed that number during the period, getting under it as much as possible. It's maintaining that is so difficult for me. My old low with be my new high weight.

I hate to admit this, but I bought some Hydroxycut the other day at walmart. I'ver never tried any such thing. It's too early to say if its been effective (it seems to be) but I've had a lot of trouble getting to sleep at night. And last night was horrible. Even (especially?) after 2 heavy workouts per day. Maybe it's related to the evil hydroxycut.

But I've always had trouble getting to sleep after a night workout like playing bball till 10:00. Any suggestions?
