I'm going to Mt Ogden next week. Both Hoopes & Mt Ogden do a lot of these. My philosophy: If they sucked, you would have heard about it by now. So I say go for it.Originally posted by Shaka View PostLasik scheduled for early January at Hoopes. Dude is a BYU fan but there is still time to pull the cord.

I know price shouldn't be an issue in this sort of thing but I'm curious how much they are charging you. Feel free not to share as it really is none of my business.
Hoopes is charging me $1975 per eye after a giving me a referring physician discount.

Hoopes was listed as one of the best lasik doctors in the Sky magazine on my Delta flight I took yesterday. Of course, that just means he paid a lot of money to some advertising agency to get on the list."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Had my next day post-op checkup today and I'm seeing 20/15 out of both eyes. In fact I could make out a couple of letters on the 20/10 line. My eyes feel better than I expected.
Two thumbs up on the LASIK thing from me! Two thumbs up for Hoopes Vision as well. They even brought my entourage and I fresh baked chocolate chip cookies three times during the duration of my stay.

how bad were your eyes before? mine aren't terrible, but just bad enough that driving with me at night is scary. my current insurance covers a grand per eye (i think...), and i've been strongly considering it.Te Occidere Possunt Sed Te Edere Non Possunt Nefas Est.

My dad and my sister went to Hoopes Vision and have never regretted it. I watched my dad's surgery and they were very accommodating. Nice facilities too. Glad you had a great experience! I wish I could get my eyes done, but I've been told I'm not a candidate.Originally posted by Shaka View PostHad my next day post-op checkup today and I'm seeing 20/15 out of both eyes. My contact prescription was -4.75 in both eyes. I have no idea what that means but I considered myself pretty blind without contacts or glasses. There's no way on earth I would have attempted driving.Originally posted by camleish View Posthow bad were your eyes before? mine aren't terrible, but just bad enough that driving with me at night is scary. my current insurance covers a grand per eye (i think...), and i've been strongly considering it.

I'm jealous. I've been thinking more and more about this as my annual checkup/contact purchase draws nigh. I'm sick of dealing with the hassle of glasses/contacts.

I just now noticed this thread. I know nothing about Hoopes, but the price is generally what the better surgery centers are able to charge. The clinic I refer to exclusively is $1,800 an eye. I wound never, ever have laser surgery anywhere that charges less than $1200 an eye. They are cutting costs somehow to charge that price.
Things to look for:- Lifetime enhancements for free
- No charge for normal follow-up during first year
- Do they charge to place punctal plugs before or after surgery? Dryness is by far the single biggest post-op complaint. One of the best ways to treat this is by blocking the tear drainage canal. Very easy procedure, but it costs up to $500 more if done outside of LASIK coverage.

I have not noticed any halos or starring effects. I was warned about them and worried about it. I love not needing to find my glasses to see the the clock on my night stand in the mornings.

I am a little older and had to have the dual vision procedure so I can see up close and at a distance. It took a little to get used to, but now I don't even notice it. I am wondering what it will be like to watch a 3-D movie, but so far there hasn't been a movie out that I wanted to pay the extra $$ for 3-D.
