If you were building from scratch, would you build an inside or outside pool? This would be in a part of the country with all four seasons. I would prefer an outdoor pool bc there's just something great about being outside swimming. But my wife wants an indoor pool for safety, year round use, and we would do a curtain wall that we would open completely in the summer for that indoor / outdoor feeling. Thoughts? What would you choose if you could -- indoor (with cool element for opening it to the outside on those warm summer days), or outdoor?

We got beat out on the offer on the last home. We offered $1K over asking and still got beat out by a cash offer.
I would have loved to build our own pool, but to our surprise this home popped up over the weekend. We just walked through it and made an offer. It already has a salt water pool and a rock waterfall....and the backyard already has a covered patio and outdoor kitchen with a gas grill (I'd prefer charcoal but have enough room to have the charcoal grill next to it).
Anyway, here's some pics of the pool. It's certainly not even close to the goose's pool, but with some better landscaping and a possible upgrade to the rocks (which isn't even really needed) it's about what we would have wanted anyway.

Okay, one more try. For those of you that have outside pools, I know you love them. I don't have any pool, but there's no way I would want an inside pool. I hate swimming in inside pools.Originally posted by Levin View PostOkay, one more try. But if you're into the new Essential Oil scent of Cloud of Chlorine throughout your house, this is a great option.Originally posted by falafel View PostI don't have any pool, but there's no way I would want an inside pool. I've had outside, I have relatives with inside pools. I prefer the inside pools, tbh. Year around use > something great about just being outside swimming but only being able to do it part of the year.Originally posted by Levin View PostOkay, one more try. I saw your post the other day, but I was hoping someone else would respond. My personal opinion is that indoor pools are awful. They never stop feeling like the swimming pool at a Super 8. Also, the chlorine smell seeps into the rest of the house, and the entire house begins to smell like a Super 8. As for the curtain wall where the doors slide all the way open for the "inside/outside" feel, that's a farce; it always still feels and echos like you are inside.Originally posted by Levin View PostOkay, one more try.
