  • New line trimmer time

I seem to buy a new line trimmer every 4 years. And it's time again.
I notice that the Home Depot in my town has a 4 cycle engine model. Seems like a nice idea. Anyone have a 4 cycle? Dig it? Do you miss mixing the oil and gas?
    I intend to live forever.
    So far, so good.

What brand? Have you checked homedepot.com for reviews? We have a four-cycle that we ended up pretty really unahappy with.

I use electric. I would rather struggle with cords than mess with oil and gas.
      PLesa excuse the tpyos.

I've used a four cycle for 4 years now. It still runs great. I love not having to mix oil/gas. I've found that if you don't go cheap on a trimmer and you maintain it, it will last you much longerthan 4 years.

I also have different attachments for it including an edger and a blower. It's nice only having one engine that can power three different tools.

I don't know. We bought the most expensive one they had, and it's turned out to be a PoS. Everybody else with the model seems to agree. We definitely blew it with that purchase.

We had bought it to use on our old homestead. Now we live in a house on like a 1/8 acre city lot, so we just use electric.

My dad has a 4 cycle that I used and I was very unhappy with it...but not due to the motor. It was the design of the "blades" (individual blades that hooks on the head and are about 3/8" thick). The motor is quiet, reliable, powerful enough and easy to start.

That could prove to be a Blockbuster.

So somewhere between the cheapest and the most expensive and he should be fine

I guess I could have thrown in the obvious of checking reviews......

4-cycle engine would be sweet. I have a 2-cycle engine that I really like, but it can be finicky at times. I'm going on my tenth year on it though, so I'll take it.

I just purchased a cordless electric trimmer that I really like because I was sick of toting the gas trimmer around in our car. It's good for about 25-30 minutes and has good power.

If your yard isn't big, I'd go this way.

Yup. That's where we blew it.
