  • I know nothing about Washing Machines

My has stopped according to my boy. It stopped two days ago. Is there any specific things I should check before I buy a new one?

    Thanks

I don't need the check to see if it is plugged in reply. I just thought of that one all by myself sitting here.

Call a repairman before you buy a new one. Washing machines can be fixed.

This should be in the Fusebox.

If you aren't that handy, call a repair man. Washers are pretty inexpensive to fix.

LOL, not very. If she was, it wouldn't be my boy who has to tell me she stopped working.

My washer just died last night. Well, its not dead. Its just making some crazy sound and not spinning.

The first thing to know about them is that they don't insist on you capitalizing their name. I imagine they appreciate it, sign of respect and all though.

If it's over 10 years old, just buy a new one.

I'm personally not a big fan of front loading machines. Supposedly they do a better job, use less water and can do larger loads. But I noticed my clothes seem to come out with more lint and pubes, so I don't think frontloaders rinse the clothes particularly well. Also, the wash cycles take forever. Others probably have better experiences with them.

There are some top loading machines that are cut above conventional top loaders, but last time I checked they were pretty unreliable. I just bought the biggest capacity top loader from Costco for #350 about four years ago and its done fine.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

There is a plastic keeper that attaches to the agitator. Its my guess that that piece is stripped out. I replaced one in my dads washer and it was quick and easy.

I can't believe that I am agreeing with YOhio twice in a 24 hour period, but he is right. I had a neighbor a few years ago. His washing machine stopped working. He called a repairman who came out and fixed it. I am not sure if it was some special kind of washing machine, but I do believe there are some washing machines that can be fixed by a professional. Keep us updated!

Thanks for the input. Going to call a washing machine repairman first and if that doesn't work have my brother buy a new one at Costco.

At the pace I take care of things, I suspect I will be going to the laundramat a couple of times. The only thing I wash are my G's and towells. Everything esle goes to Lu Won Dang's.

I have been really curious to how this all ended up. Did the repairman fix your machine? Did you have to buy a new one? Next time, an update sooner than 18 months would be appreciated. Thanks.

My mind is going. I have no recollection of my washing machine ever having this issue.
