    Ox in the Mire

Like many members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, we try to not make purchases on Sunday. Outside of when we are out of town, it is very rare for us to make any sort of visit to a retail establishment on the Sabbath.

We currently are in possession of 1.5 packages (leftover from yesterday's game) of Oreo Chocolate Sandwich Cookies (Double Stuf). I just opened our last gallon of milk, purchased yesterday, to find the seal broken and the milk "funky". The Ox is clearly in it up to his friggin' belly, and I am off to CVS.

Clearly Oreo's without milk is a travesty that requires correction. I think your eternal salvation is safe today.

I was also thinking about pulling the Ox out at the local cineplex tonight and making sure that Inglorious Basterds is okay.

Please take off your suit and tie and change into some causal clothes before you head to the store. I don't why that bothers me but it does.

The same reason why BYU fans gambling in Vegas in BYU gear bugs me, probably.

No worries, I was wearing shorts, a T-shirt, and converse low tops. I kept on my dress socks, though, since it was Sunday, and it drives my wife crazy.

This is same reason that I had to go see the Yeah Yeah Yeahs at Bumbershoot today. That darn ox.

We found out this morning that three extra guests were coming for dinner after church. I had to make a quick run to Harmon's and grab another rack of back ribs. My wife first suggested that we thaw out some chicken. We quickly realized that the poor suckers who ended up with chicken would be pissed. The ox was clearly in the mire.

The ribs were a huge hit. Catastrophe averted.

Unexpected guests are a OitM situation. Clearly. If you just neglected to get the ribs for people you knew were coming, you'll have to eat chicken and watch them enjoy the ribs...

Get over it, you go to the store, you go to the store. There's a whole lot more I could say but .....

yeah, either that or just go to the store and buy some more ribs.

but not buying ribs and watching others eat them is an option, too, I guess.

ps another option is to quickly get called as a general authority and then just go out to eat on Sunday and you can have as many ribs as you want!

I'm probably the wrong guy to ask. "Nothing in the pantry or fridge looks appetizing" is all the miring my ox requires.
