I just wanted you to clarify that in full view for all to see. Thanks."The first thing I learned upon becoming a head coach after fifteen years as an assistant was the enormous difference between making a suggestion and making a decision."

I would love to find out where that place is. If I found it, I think I could stay there on my own.Originally posted by Babs View PostWhat are you kidding? This is the best part of the board! The intellectual emperors really think they're wearing clothes. It's priceless!

Lack of foudnation. You spend almost no time in the foyer.Originally posted by Babs View PostWhat are you kidding? This is the best part of the board! The intellectual emperors really think they're wearing clothes. It's priceless!

Come on in, the water's fine! If you express your beliefs in a simple and straightforward way, you will be seen by some here as "prime beef," and will be mocked and ridiculed. But that's OK. There are only a few skeptics and critics and one or two self-appointed court jesters, but the great majority here are thoughtful, respectful people. Regarding the smaller group, just remember my favorite all-time statement by Neal A. Maxwell, about the scorn of the people in the "great and spacious building:"
"It is the laughter of a lonely crowd, desperately trying to reassure itself."
You'll see some great manifestations of that concept here.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

Whilst I side with you often, the great and spacious building is way, way overused. I will concede I really enjoy Brother Maxwell's work.
I think holding onto the iron rod is probably underutilized and if blindness wasn't lurking out there, more priesthood bearers would be inclined to hold on tightly to that iron rod.

Would you be willing to expound on why you don't ask these questions?Originally posted by Art Vandelay View PostI rarely ask myself, or others, the deep soul searching questions than many seem to focus on. .
Isn't this contradictory with James 1:5?Originally posted by Art Vandelay View PostMy personal philosophy is I don't think God is under any requirement to let me know the all the reasons why. ."The first thing I learned upon becoming a head coach after fifteen years as an assistant was the enormous difference between making a suggestion and making a decision."

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

When you cut through all the academic-speak, the red-herrings, the straw men and so forth, most of the points here are pretty straightforward.Originally posted by Art Vandelay View PostI guess I realize why I generally go to Gospel Doctrine instead of hanging out in the foyer. I'm not sure I'm a deep enough thinker to contribute to many of the discussions on here (that was not meant to be either TIC or sarcastic). I enjoy reading the diverse opinions, but many leave me feeling like I must really be a simpleton.

I'm just in one of my moods about people who use ridicule a bit too much, in my arbitrary view. I am sure that I dish that out from time to time as well (especially when it comes to my friend SU's posts) but ridicule can sometimes be very mean-spirited and a real wet blanket on discussion. And that bugs me. No preaching, just a mini-vent.Originally posted by byu71 View PostWhilst I side with you often, the great and spacious building is way, way overused.
