Extending the time period to September is great and all but at some point you have to wonder why the temple recommend interview isn’t sufficient for this declaration. I guess you could argue that not all tithe payers have a temple recommend, but still, who cares?

I still think (based on discussions with them) that most bishops like tithing settlement despite the time suck as they finally get to meet with the less needy members of the ward.

I like the high level approach. When I was preparing to go on a mission, if my bishop had simply asked me to declare my chastity, rather than ask for specific details, I might not have had to wait until I was 20 to go on my mission.

Happy to see the Stake YM, YW, and SS presidencies disbanded. That was long overdue.

I saw the announcement and got happy for a multitude of reasons. Then read it and realized that the only thing that was really changing was that the fun gets to start even earlier.

I'm going to slip the conducting counselor an announcement to read on the next Fast Sunday: "Brothers and Sisters, it is time to declare your tithing status. The bishop's phone number is in the program. Please text it right now with your name and tithing status. That will do."

Hey. I just wanted you to know that you can't just say the word "tithing" and expect anything to happen.

Don't throw shade at Jay! The years take their toll but he's still pretty sharp physically and mentally, too.

Yeah I don't see that happening. DHO still looks relatively spry.

I wonder what his contribution to LDS lore will be. My money is on standardization of all GC talks with Roman numerals!

does sound like hell to me as well, but most of us aren't going to be doing as well as rmn late into their 90s. if i'm as healthy as him at that age, bring it on.
