True, but by shading that reference in the lesser-known name, you hide the negative aspects of the symbol, and still make your point.

Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

Deliverance is one of the most offensive-to-Southerners movies ever made.

It isn't all encompassing. Some old people simply are frail and helpless....

the reference with regards to the banjo has nothing to do with the rape scene. If anything, it is a reference to inbreeding, which we all know to be rampant in the South.

It is not relevant, since the arrangement in the movie features a duel between a banjo and a guitar, not two banjos.

I know when I've been bested. DDD has about, oh, 100 notches in his desk-chair arm rest of besting what is happening, man; so many that he quit counting for lack of space and interest in doing so. Sometimes I sit in awe of how quick his wit is.

Thanks for everyone's kind remarks. I've never seen Deliverance, and don't really know what it is about, but if it features great banjo music, I'm sure it is a great way to get Little Robin inspired. I'll put it in the Netflix queue and give the boy an education he won't forget.
