Because they're all metaphysically lobotomized, which is the whole point. If you raise them from babies to be taught that the way of the world is patriarchal and they are inferior to men and their role is circumscribed and stunted, the indoctrination will be self-fulfilling. Real women think what you say 99% of women don't care about is repulsive, if they consider it. But you're probably right in the sense that 99% of women within and outside Mormonism who would be offended by it don't waste their time giving it a minute's thought.

You forgot the part where the mother is excluded. Even asking to hold the baby during the blessing is too much for an uppity mother to ask.

For the most part, the child us supported and surrounded by strangers to him or her. Many of the people in the circle probably met the baby for the first time that day.

Baby blessings are a great example of massive problems in the LDS church.
