You are wise in your old age. These goofy millennials should take note!

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

I refuse to count the Priesthood session as part of conference until they treat the Women's session equal to the Priesthood session. I stand by my statement that I watched none of it. NONE.

I take that back. I did turn the TV on to watch the Chicago Blackhawks and saw about 20 seconds before I turned off the TV angry about the Mormons denying me Blackhawks hockey in stunning HD quality.

You attended the most sexist part of conference.

Maybe you should demand to be admitted to women's conference at the conference center in protest.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Yes. The things that we do because we love our family.

If only there was a way that we could be with our families forever.

On the DVR on Dish, it shows 6 items under "General Conference," including the women's session. So there you have it. See you in October!

Yeah, they have been calling it the first session of General Conference for a while now. I am surprised that funk is so ignorant of something like that.

In fact - it's important enough that it gets its own weekend instead of getting throwing in with a bunch of other meetings.

(Funk - did you love how they cut the priesthood session to 90 minutes so that it was more like the women's session? I know I did!)

Dumb. The Women's Session is obviously on a higher plane as it has its very own weekend.

For many, music is a special conduit to the spirit of God and can express a depth of testimony that is inadequate with words. This is no more evident than in the powerful hymns performed by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. During the Saturday Morning Session of the 186th Annual General Conference of the Church, members […]

Elder Kearon’s talk continues to run through my mind. Among the many great lines was his recitation of a verse from 2 Timothy that led into his superb closing:

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

He omitted the final clause, presumably because of the context and his stated desire to remain apolitical, but I think that clause is also appropriate to consider, as I believe that some of the opposition to assisting and admitting refugees is borne of an irrational mind.

Consider that since 9/11, an American was 12,000 times more likely to be killed in a car accident than by a terrorist. Similarly, an American was 5,000 times more likely to be killed by a gun wielded by an ordinary citizen than by one in the hands of a terrorist. I mention that latter stat, not because I’m arguing in favor of gun control, but merely to underscore that while we have accepted the inherent risks of driving and gun ownership, the relatively tiny risk of terrorism causes us to act not out of power and love in addressing the refugee problem, but out of fear.

It’s also important to note that nearly all of the attempts at domestic terrorism have come not from foreigners and recent immigrants, but from our own citizens or those whom we thought had been assimilated many years earlier.

I think a sound mind would recognize that following Elder Kearon’s counsel will, ultimately, do more to reduce the threat of terrorism than would a fearful “No Muslims or Other Refugees Allowed” approach.

One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.
