In those all about me journals that ask you questions when you are kids one of them was what you want to do when you grow up and I put be a General Authority. Would get called Apostle shortly after missions. Hme seven years before vacancy though. Being GA is great if y don,t mind living away from family for years at a time. Foreign born ones away a good chunk of calling.
Good if you don,t mind being away from home most weekends and a few weeks as well. People hoping for foreign born apostle what that means is the rest of your life you will be away from home. The in the Seventy can hope to be home after five or six years or when they turn 70. Dieter will have to live in Salt Lake the rest of his life now. Being GA takes is a lot of sacrifice of personal and family time and you have people looking at you all the time for slightest imperfection. Not a strongly desired calling if you see there grueling schedule. Do have sMe time for recreation but it is very limited.
Mission President if you don,t mind going three years without sleeping babysitting between 150 and 200 late teen early 20 year olds some not pleasant situations. Some missionaries will glory y and respect you. But the behind the scenes takes a toll. Before I arrived mp had heart attack and died so with three weeks notice Tom called man off his Texas ranch to preside for two and a half years.
Most members liked our mission President. He went home about same time as I did and lady that liked to call and visit missionaries after they left, attached to them was glad to see him go. Must of been reprimanded. He didn,t choose to be mp and liked to get things done. That. Was before caller I'd was wide spread so she could easily find missionaries. Didn,t do anything bad but heard you are not to intentionally stay in touch with missionaries when they leave area. Of course impossible not to run into them from time to time.
Heard we do not belong to the church of latter day status. Not where y serve but how you serve.
Than Bishop. That is time demanding calling. No one asks and everyone hopes someone else gets that call. Members call yu all hours of day and night for blessings and things that should be delegated. Spend a lot of time visiting people in addition to meetings. Have to sacrifice family time in cases of untimely deaths and other things. Have unpleasant task of denying temple recommends sometimes.
Occasionally hear of hw a Bishop screwed someone so family is now inactive, or this family does not go to church because of a Bishop. How many Bishops intentionally try to damage there congregation? Those people are just looking for excuse to leave anyway I am sure and easier to pin blame on those called to preside over them than accept responsibility for there own sins. Elderly woman on my mission could not wait tell Bishop was released pretended she did not exist. Attention starved and converted to previous Bishop. No one asks for any assignment.
There are spiritual but time committing callings. Who in there right mind if they knew what it would entail would want to be Bishop, mp, or ga? Positions y don,t seek, doctrine you don,t creat and sometimes disobedient people mad at you for job you don't get paid for.
