Deep down, he's pissed. He can't fathom that educated, intelligent human beings don't agree with him on the religion issue, and deep down it is unsettling for him. It pisses him off. By the way, SU's position is the apex of conceit and lack of imagination (not a good combo for an aspiring novelist). It's also the totalitarian mindset-- the inability to have any empathy with those with different experiences and viewpoints. If he had the power to punish believers, he would. Through the coercion of the state, in the form of scorn, taxation, and the like. His is the mindset of totalitarianism. He should be more circumspect, as an aspiring Tolstoy and all.

When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.
Do you know what pisses me off about this whole thing? After learning that a man named Clay Christensen exists, I then learned that he has a son who played for Duke on a basketball schollie (and it appears he was even a mission kid).
Yeah, and BYU wanted him badly. If it is any consolation he didn't play much at all.
I could have posted this in Oxcoug's "You, Harry Reid, are terrible" thread, but under the circumstances, this is more appropriate. I recommend watching at least portions of Reid's memorial service held earlier today in Las Vegas. The unlikelihood of an LDS memorial service that includes fine addresses from, among others, Elder Ballard, Chuck Schumer (quoting movingly from 2 Nephi), Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden, with a musical number by Carole King, is by itself reason enough to tune in. I haven't watched all of it yet, but what I've seen is very good, and I was never a fan of Reid's. Elder Ballard's mention of the fact that we believe that all of us are literal brothers and sisters is a message that cannot be overemphasized in today's toxic political environment in which many on each side seem convinced the other is evil, bent on the nation's destruction.

thanks for sharing that. I scrolled through a lot of it but it was very touching. I was (probably naively) hopeful that at the end of the day, even people as partisan as Harry Reid and others can be seen as human and good. I had to watch all of schumer’s remarks to make sure you weren’t lying. Sure enough, that was probably one of the highest profile shares of the BOM we’ll see!
"...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Do you think it's possible for you to post without using words like "hilarious," "absurd," "canard," and "truther"? Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."
"You are an intemperate, unscientific poster who makes light of very serious matters.”

I watched and was touched by Brandon Flower's performance of "Be Still" yesterday, particularly as he transitioned the ending on the piano to conclude with "God be With You Till We Meet Again"
