    Bad News for SoonerCoug

Religion isn't going anywhere, and in fact the globe will get more religious as this century progresses. Groundbreaking study from Pew. Sooner likes stats and scientific methods, so he should be extra depressed by this.

It's always struck me as funny, these empty prognostications by the virulent new secularists like Sooner, who predict religion's downfall at their hands. As if they were the greatest threat religion and faith have ever faced. It's such an ahistorical sentiment, and ultimately simple egotism. If they studied one ounce of history, they would see that faith has faced much greater existential threats throughout history than their bellicose bellyaching. Faith dying b/c of the likes of SoonerCoug . . . lol.

By the way, Sooner's and his ilk's response to this is so predictable it writes itself. Let me know if you'd like me to write it out for you to save you the typing, Soony.

Sooner, like Bill Walton, thinks too highly of human beings. It's not a bad quality; it's lovely in its own way.

In this thread I'm on teamlevin!
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Check! Sooner -- in your response, you can leave out the "too bad most humans are dumb and not as smart as me" part. SU has already covered that one. But the other standard speaking points you can include if you want. Or my offer stands if you'd like me to write your rote response for you!

This assumes China doesn't open up to religious freedom. As the study makes clear, if that happens, all bets are off on these "switching" numbers. Christianity will explode.

Also, "unaffiliated" doesn't get Sooner what he really wants, which is the rise of the Church of No-God of Latter-day Secularists.

which makes sense. the most vocal church supporters on this board are universally considered to be a**holes. Levin, Tex, LA Ute, etc.

It's just a little necessary counter-punching to correct the false narrative of the new atheists. I'm sure they won't take it personally.

there's nothing like a poor, uneducated populace to help those baptism numbers
