The wife said she doesn't want to do it and I picture my retired life of just living in shorts and flip flops and only changing into something else when I go for a ride or go golfing. I could never put on one of those name tags again, I hated that part of it. I'm lucky I didn't go later on when they were required to wear them on their coats, their gym clothes, on P day, in the shower, in bed and everywhere else.

I would love to serve a mission with my wife. I am not sure she will want to go.

How much do we have to know about polygamy?

    Wow. So cool.

I think my wife would get through about half a morning of tracting before we find something else to do.
My parents have done 1 proselyting mission as a couple. No tracting involved. Mostly they worked with the local unit to teach less active members or to work with the missionaries to teach discussions. They are now on their second mission, working in the office of the mission in which they live. They stay at their own home.

My wife and I both served missions. Neither one of us wants to serve another one.

I have these nightmares fairly regularly and have heard of others who do as well. I am in to interpreting dreams but the commonality of this dreams fro returned missionaries makes me wonder why we have these dreams.

you say that until the Mrs. makes sure that you are doing the accounting for a mission in the Ivory Coast.

I wouldn't do a leadership/proselyting mission, but I'd do some of the missions mentioned above. One of my favorite couples in the world (served in their ward on my mission) went to two of the best missions I can think of. First, they served in India supporting a mobile health clinic that provided basic healthcare in the slums. They loved and hated this mission (loved because they were helping to make a real difference in people's lives every day; hated because there were usually lines of untreated people at least a 1/2 mile long at the end of their day).

Their second mission was to Frankfurt at the Institute. Apparently, all the young kids go to school, then go out drinking/dancing every night, so this is an outlet for the Mormon kids. They had activities every night. Sounds like fun.

Quick question: how many of you have spouses that want to serve a senior mission, that never served a "regular" mission?

I say this because my wife, a figurative and literal Saint, has talked a bit about serving. I wonder if the desire to go would be tempered by the reality of what drudgery a mission really was. And don't get me wrong, I loved my mission.

FTR, my wife broke up with more than one boyfriend who wanted to get serious, by telling them she was planning on a mission. So it could be that she's just trying to ditch me.

    Clark has a good attitude.

I intend to live abroad at my own expense for several months a year but not on somebody else's time table.

Like most here, it would depend on what it is.

Temple? I have a hard time going once a year, so going every day seems completely boring to me.
    Genealogy? No Thanks.
Proselyting? Not just no, but hell, no.

But doing the right thing in the right place, I would consider it.

They are learning that there is no holiday in Cambodia.
