The LDS Church can't punish someone for getting an erection. That would be unfair.

One page in and I am already losing track. Here is what we have so far:

        1. Church paying people to fake tweet on the internet.
        2. Low salaries for women in Utah.
        3. No enough female faculty at BYU.
        4. Bishop inappropriately discussing sex with kids in private.

Let me know if I missed anything. Let's work together to keep this list updated as the thread progresses. TIA.

            I brought this up. It's a fact.
            1. Church paying people to fake tweet on the internet.

Someone else brought up Mormon female employment, and so these facts naturally followed:
            2. Low salaries for women in Utah.
            3. Not enough female faculty at BYU.

The theme is the church organization's need to feel power and/or control over its members (no pun intended) and the information they receive. Loss of control because or the internet is why they excommunicated bloggers. What is more indicative of a need to control than putting minors in a room with the guy from down the street (under the auspices that he represents God) so that they can be questioned about masturbation? Parents are surrendering their rights to a stranger down the street when they allow a bishop to do the following:
            4. Bishop inappropriately interviewing minor Church members about masturbation

At a minimum, this should be done only after the parents sign informed consent.

i am surprised you are content dealing with all these things in one thread. These are serious issues! It's almost like you don't care.

I'm mostly just angry about the game last night. That's what happens when you play ball on Sunday (fumbles).

Sounds dishonest and I'm not a fan. The church has plenty of people that would do this for free on top of their current callings and they wouldn't have to lie.

I'm also not a fan of beaurocracy. If she has to have all her tweets approved by her manager why doesn't he just make the tweets? Maybe the church is hiring unemployed people to do this so they can care for the poor

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Im guessing the Church has been paying Tex all these years to post on our boards.

It makes a lot of sense for the Church to work to improve its online "reputation" in whatever way it wants to improve it.

Creating favorable internet content and driving searches to this favorable content is standard operating procedure for most corporations now, right?

Yeah there was a major PR effort for Meet the Mormons -- I know the Church tried to give away tickets to all kinds of people to encourage attendance and internet buzz about the movie.

                          Let's consider the evidence.

                          1) The Church is hemorrhaging young members.
                          2) Church authorities blame the internet and content generated by apostates.
                          3) Rather than giving a more truthful open narrative, the Church has organized a multiple-pronged approach.
That approach consists of A) Writing slightly more open historical narratives for LDS.org and B) An aggressive PR campaign that includes hiring people whose SOLE job is to tweet or post on Facebook. In accordance with this, the Church also announces plans to have missionaries on social media as well as encourage non-employee members to use social media.
                          4) The Church has been actively hiring "social media experts."

This multiple-pronged approach includes a goal by the Church to win yet ANOTHER un-winnable war. They fought not to give women, blacks, and gays equal rights. Now they are fighting to keep their own membership via online propaganda.

But in the end, people want to think for themselves and will want to know the truth about the things the church has historically hidden.

It seems a little bizzare, but this approach is preferable to audio recording the party line in your own voice with the intent to replay the recording frequently.

I think this is what happens when masturbation truly becomes a problem.

This is the dumbest thread ever.

Of course the church is trying to get a strong presence in social media. Is this some kind of revelation to you?

                                This registers a giant "MEH".
