    I don't feel threatened.

It's just that this tactic seems like something Scientology or North Korea would employ.

I just think people should know what the Church does with their tithing. I think the church should be more transparent. Over the last year, a large number of linked twitter accounts were started that are absurdly positive about the church and seem to be employees of the church. Now it has been independently confirmed.

This is about the Church feeling like they have lost control of the narrative. And they feel like they have to tweet via fake unofficial channels instead of official ones.

Also creepy: Dallin H Oaks has >18000 followers and has tweeted just one time.

I think this Elder Holland video sums up pretty nicely how the Church has lost control of the narrative:

That's weird, Sooner. And kind of funny.

I'm curious about your opinion. This is real. It fits with the whole lack of openness, totalitarian motif the Church has going.
If it is true it draws an eyeroll from me, not another thread.

The church is always a big lag behind on new things, it is run by old people who don't understand new things and think they can control them.

Did you know that Lebowski pays me to post on CS? No really, I have to have it approved by YO first. Why is the church hiring people in Oklahoma, or wherever non-Utah state I believe you live in, instead of getting the same social media influence from thousands of willing participants in their back yard. Also why are they hiring a women, seems like they should be able to find a man to do this.

Speaking of hiring women to do this, Time Magazine says that Utah is the worst state for women--followed by Idaho and Wyoming. I agree.

So the LDS church could've hired a woman in Utah to get this Twitter presence for cheaper? Now I'm angry.

The woman is from Utah. She took ex-mormons from Utah to the movie without telling them she was employed by the Church and was using free tickets from the Church. After the movie (and after getting all their names), she disclosed that she was from the Church PR department. And she told them that her twitter account is monitored by her boss / boss-approved tweets only.

                    LOL.

How many female professors are in the BYU physics department? Engineering department? Biology department? BYU biology hired the FIRST ONE while I was there about 15 years ago.

And don't tell me there aren't female physicists, engineers, or biologists.

I feel like you're losing control of the narrative of this thread.

I'm pissed that the church isn't paying me. I already act like I'm not employed by the church but I'm doing it for free.

Cardiac was making fun of the big brother thing by saying that the Church is monitoring things tweeted for the while world to see. I thought this was a clever retort.

But it doesn't change the fact that bishops privately ask 13-year-olds if they masturbate and frequently discuss sexual things with minors. That's private, personal business that the Church is monitoring--in private, with minors. So, so creepy.

The bishop who lived across the street from my parents asked my sister if she masturbated when she was 12 years old.

Why surrender yourselves to an authority that monitors whether you masturbate or not? What does this teach kids? How does it impact their normal psychological development to be told to sit down in a private room with a random old guy who supposedly represents God and discuss such personal business??

Would be kind of interesting if the church actually monitored masturbation, perhaps with an electronic device. they could call it a LoJackOff.
