Interesting. Considering theater count, it dominated. Actually probably not that interesting, but whatever. I'd guess the church isn't regretting their decision.

Often the MOst important number on opening weekend is the take per theater. MTM did incredibly well in that category. The only MOvie that beat it is Addicted, a movie based on the novel by leading eroticist Zane.

That is usually the case, but I think they maxed out what they could get.

Carey scheduled Rockland for their homecoming weekend. I headed on up that way as we have a pretty decent club this year. As expected we still got bitchslapped by Lane's boys. The first announcement was the score from the BYU-UH game the night before. Scottie's roots in Cougar blue go as deep as most Idahoans desire to headbutt 90% of the folks in Blaine County, but in Carey no headbutts needed!
. The eastern Idaho part of Sawtooth Conference not as tough. Elvis,s town Ctown had unstoppable player for coach Vines team. No defense. So looks like Blue Devils will be 4th seed and have to beat the Dawgs. Can,t help playing them post season any sport it seems. Maybe grandchild of longtime coach and current ad will participate in some way against Coach Vines team.
Yeah, as dumb as I thought this idea was, it might turn out pretty well for them. I can see a few movie fans perusing the top sellers and getting curious about why this movie about Mormons did so well, having had no experience with our herd mentality (see So you think you can dance, American idol, fascination with imagine dragons/neon trees, etc) and our desire to look normal and be liked. They come out of it inspired by some nice individual stories and can't miss the tie to Mormonism. Plus, it will bury the less favorable actual documentary done by the BBC. Probably a win, on the whole.
I'm still not going to see it and I can relate with the sentiment i read in one of the fb threads on it: "when did my religion become an insecure teenage girls posting selfies for likes?" It just shows how normal we really aren't.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

We were able to get enough Mormons to see a Mormon proselyting movie to totally game the system and illustrate fake demand. Hooray for us!

If "Meet the Mormons" is intended to show that we’re just like you non-Mormons, it probably left you scratching your heads as well. I don’t know anyone that tidy and unblemished. I’ll bet you don’t either.
At best, "Meet the Mormons" proved to the unaware that we aren’t a Utah goober version of the Pennsylvania Amish, and there are different color versions of us around the world. But that’s about it.
