If you're progressive from an individual liberty or civil rights standpoint, the LDS Church is a bad institution. It's that simple. And the 12, the President, etc. are bad people.

There it is, Mr. Monson, I dare you to excommunicate me for that.
Look this isn't going to get you excommunicated. You just need to stop being so damn lazy and just write your resignation letter. I bet you could even get one of the summer associates to write it for you.

No. It has to happen the right way.

I wonder if Joanna Brooks is feeling left out
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I am! I guess I was late to the face book party. Where's JL? He should be here saying SU is jealous.

More bad news for the sake of your bold dare: the Prophet probably has zero idea you exist.

Forgive me, but what exactly is OW "teaching"?

Something to do with ordaining women to the priesthood, I think. Those who have followed more closely can confirm.

I just want to take this opportunity to bear my testimony about how nice life has been since I quit participating in the Church. I highly recommend it to anyone who has ever considered living free of totalitarianism, homophobia, sexism, and religion-sponsored injustice.

There are a few things that I miss about the Church. I value the service aspect of Mormonism and some of the music, but I believe that I have found even better ways to provide service and much better organizations for my donations.

I encourage all of you to live a life based in reality rather than archaic fantasy, unless you are a BYU employee, in which case I would recommend that you just pretend.

What's this about the former bishop initiating the proceedings? I wouldn't think leaders of a former ward would have jurisdiction (for lack if a better word) over her.

Technically it should be the June 3. Rock Waterman is getting it too. He doesn't have the following that the other two do (and he's more akin to the Denver Snuffer anyway) but it's part of what appears to be an orchestrated effort. Orchestrated by whom - that I don't know.

Rock (I think) was informed that a 70 gave his bishop the letter/instructions. Beyond that we don't know anything. I have a hard time believing BKP would be worried about anything other than his health at this point, but could be. Obviously it goes beyond the 70s since we're talking about at least three different locations.

If you want my opinion (and I know all of you do!), this is about demographics and statistics. The Church believes that the disaffected crowd is small (I agree, although, I think it's larger than they think) and that it's largely irredeemable. Probably true. They are also concerned about the non-disaffected "sinning" crowd - all the women I've seen in Utah county wearing gym clothes all day because they couldn't bother to change back into Authorized Pattern, or all the families showing up at Costco on Sunday. So they are going to prune the wild olive branch and nourish (read: chasten) the natural. I don't doubt that they expect mass resignations from this (several are being planned as we speak), and I think their general attitude is "good riddance".

I hear the malls in Utah are closed on Sunday, where else are they going to go?
