  • Learning in the temple?

Everyone likes to say how much they learn when they go to the temple.

I learned a lot the first time I went to the temple. A whole lot. More than I wanted to learn.

That said, I'm curious to hear whether people feel like they really learn something each time they attend the temple, what kinds of things they learn, and how they learn them (e.g., noticing something not noticed before or feeling inspired, etc.)

I'm sure some people will accuse me of mocking just because it's me, but I am honestly interested in hearing some perspectives on this. I don't recall learning much with repeat visits other than seeing the initial things that I had never imagined.

I learned last time I went that I kinda dig slutty Eve from the newest film.

Slutty Eve? How many iterations of Eve are there in the new temple movie?

If there is a slutty eve I might have to go check it out. What is the film rated?

When my little BIL went through the temple just prior to leaving on his mission, everyone in the family attended with him....parents, sibs, spouses, even some extended family. Anyhow, after the sesh my MIL came up to my wife and I and commented that she had learned so much during the session. I was intrigued and asked her to elaborate but she said that it was personal and she didn't want to reveal any of it. We never discussed it again.

I would submit that my MIL learns a lot of new things in the temple.

Nice! Totally called her out. She couldn't answer so she used the "it was personal" excuse. lol.

I don't recall thinking I learned anything. Not even all of it was new because 9 months earlier I had gone through a Fraternity initiation. That was actually dissapointing to have some of the same things common to a Fraternity initiation and the Temple. Maybe I didn't have the proper spirit with me.

You should go check it out, if for no other reason that you can share with Sooner what you did or didn't learn at the temple. Plus, Mrs. TD will be impressed that you were finally the one who suggested you guys go.

                    She doesn't like to go

Technically, I dont think we are supposed to discuss what we do or do not learn in the temple unless we are inside the temple. Isn't that the rule?

I don't know, but if that is the case, I must say I'm disappointed that Sooner is using this thread to bait us into sinning. What a jerk.

Interesting question. I thought we weren't supposed to talk about the rituals (sorry I am sure there is another term, but can't think of it) we do. As far as learning, I would imagine that could be shared. I haven't been for a while, but other than the ordinances, that's the proper word, what would you really learn you hadn't heard in church.

If there is something, don't tell me, I don't want you sinning.

I certainly wouldn't have learned there is something about the Eve in the newest movie, in church. At my church we never watch the temple movie - maybe you do at your church?

I guess it is all in what the meaning of learning is. I haven't seen the new movie so I don't know what I could learn about Eve I don't know. Don't tell me. If I want to learn I will have to get a recommend.

I have not seen either of the new temple movies, but I have to admit that SMR is doing a real good job of piquing my interest to go.
