I have a legit question that just might give this thread some legs again. What is pornography? When does the depiction of human sexuality cross the line and become something that most of you consider to be verboten and harmful?

I ask in all sincerity. We have many fans of The Wire, True Blood, Entourage, Quentin T., etc. There are graphic depictions of human sexuality in a lot of media that many of us enjoy. What is it about actually 'seeing something go in' that makes it more inherently harmful than simulacra? And when does simulacra cause harm?

For the orthodox members, these questions aren't such a big deal, but what about everyone else? What about the True Blood fans?

I must admit I find this discussion about line-drawing puzzling. Everyone here understands the concept of the Holy Ghost, whether they believe it or not. If you care about the Holy Ghost, and watching, reading or hearing something makes you feel the Holy Ghost's absence, then don't do it. If it makes you uncomfortable to watch or read or hear something, don't do it.

If you care about the Holy Ghost, and watching, reading or hearing something makes you feels the Holy Ghost's absence, then don't do it. If it makes you uncomfortable to watch or read or hear something, don't do it.

Just be careful with the "Burning in the bosom" (or anywhere else for that matter). It probably isn't the Holy Ghost in those situations.

I'm not sure the line is so easily drawn. There are plenty of people out there who, for reasons ranging from abuse to simple prudishness, feel really uncomfortable about sex. There are others who feel completely comfortable with swinging. Now maybe we just need to butt out of all of this, but I kinda don't think you'd advocate that.

This brings up a broader question of differentiating between leaving your comfort zone and actually leaving the Holy Ghost. I don't have this distinction down, and based on what I've observed in others, I'm not convinced they do either.
