  • Mormon Revival

I would love to see a revival of dancing in the Church. We need not go back to the likes of Brigham and the boys drinking wine and enjoying an all-male dance in the Nauvoo Temple, but I would appreciate a revival of dancing nonetheless.

What do you want to see revived?

Agreed. If people want a seminary-like environment, they can go to that school in Idaho.

All-Church basketball tournaments and super adventures. We did almost a month-long road trip through Mexico with 10 priests in a Winnebago. We went to Monterrey, Tampico, Mexico City, and Mazatlan. The Winnebago broke down in Culican. Fun times.

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but the oft-cited behavioral problems during the basketball tournaments was mostly due to a lack of skilled officiating.

The costs of those tournaments is another matter....

The All-Church basketball tournies had already stopped when I was playing. They were just doing regional tournies. I imagine a Church-wide basketball tournament would be expensive. But, with the growth of the Church, think of all the fun locations they could have the final four play.

Edit: Also seems like a great way to identify potential international talent for BYU hoops.

Cost shouldn't be a problem. We just need to slow down the mall-building and we'd have the money to run the tourney. It could also be broadcast on BYUtv and sponsored by a conglomerate of MLMs.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Speaking of MLM's. There is a fairly new one that has cream that makes your face look younger. Anyone want to join my downline.

No need to use sacred tithing funds for the tournament. Instead, the local units can have fundraisers for the teams to make the road trip.

Priesthood meeting at 8 am followed by Sunday School at 10 am and Sacrament at 6 pm. Also a return to the one piece garments. We don't suffer enough anymore.

At BYU, I once wrote a paper for English, that was a concert review. The first line was... "Roll over Earnest L., I'm about to write a concert review of the Doobie Brothers Concert held in the Marriott Center this last Saturday night." The TA wrote on my paper, "Loved it."

Allow speakers to choose their own topics and back away from parroting GC talks. Last Sunday, was Tithing Sermon Sunday in my ward. Both adults rehased Bednar's Tithing talk from last GC and I didn't particularly care for it then. The youth speakers were the only ones interesting.

Correlation is reaching a point in my stake where there's an effort to standardize individual testimonies. In the not so distant future, SLC will provide script cards for the speaker to read from the pulpit.

The WoW as counsel instead of commandment. But I've already kind of revived that one myself.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.
