"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Take out that comma, it is confusing. Makes it sound like you are signing the post as creekster.

The church is not unsuccessful. They don't buy things on sale. $35M is the right price to continue their success.

I know I need therapy, so take this with a grain of salt, but I think just about anyone has a right to almost any opinion, having paid tithing or not. Bro.

Yeah. Can we all just stipulate that people have rights to opinions?

                      Oh brother.

                      • This deal highlights what's wrong with both churches.

The CoC has the birthright, and is happy to sell it.
The LDS are happy to buy that birthright, since they know that they can buy anything with money,

This is a clever line, but in fact this is only a highlight of your possible opinion of what is happening. The analogy breaks down immediately if you consider it. But, as pithy comments go, well done.

                              • The price probably started at $50,000. But there were a bunch of Mormon dudes all bidding against each other for the right to make the purchase and give it to the church. Next thing you know, we're talking $35 million.
