I didn't make that connection for some reason. Deseret Book picks up books from LDS-adjacent authors all the time. Yuck. So.. this dude, who co-opts child sex trafficking stories to ask for money for his pretend child-rescue organization and also just put out a highly fictionalized biopic about himself saving kids from sex trafficking, can't stop lying in print, either. Shocker.

Update: the theater filled up as expected during the trailers. Wife was a good sport about the conspiracy theorist behind me, laughing about it, admitting some embarrassment about the crowd she has chosen to align with.

My wife mentioned that we should go see that movie when it looked like Oppenheimer was pretty much sold out. (No way in hell was I going to the Barbie movie either!) Fortunately I found some tickets on the 3rd row in a theater showing Oppenheimer that we don't usually go to that was a little bit more of a drive. It was worth sitting on the 3rd row to watch Oppenheimer.

I'm sure there were plenty of butts in seats for SOF, but there were a lot of sparsely attended showings nationwide, I think largely due to that "Pay it Forward" promo they are pushing, to pay for an extra ticket to allow someone else to see it for free. That program is definitely NOT part of the grift that these guys are definitely NOT guilty of being a part of.

Lol my cousin's kid in HS in Eastern Idaho (lord help us all) posted something on social media to the effect of: 'Sitting here in SOF. The movie stopped halfway through. NOT A COINCIDENCE.'

So sad for the current wife and the children. I wonder what her parents are thinking now. After they bought her plush place in the PNW when pretty much everyone knew she did it. And who gets custody of the kids? I hope his widow gets custody as part of this whole horrible ordeal.
