And how much you wanna bet the $1000 anonymous contribution was by the attorney who inherited the cases and started the page?

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

So what did he do? I figured he took the money and is trading in his old life for the playboy life in Colombia or something. But then I thought I read no one can locate him or his wife? He had kids at home, didn't he? Did they all skip the country together?

      • His attorney says he is still in LV. If I extrapolate from the latest RJ article, it sounds like his "old life" was likely at the expense of his clients' trust funds, and there probably isn't enough left to live the playboy life in Colombia or anywhere else. In other words, he didn't make a $13M withdrawal and disappear, and I doubt he has any money sitting in an offshore account anywhere. He probably has some really nice cars in his garage, tho!

His attorney says he's here, but his primary residence is in Ft. Collins. I would be surprised if he were actually here.

Also interesting is that his wife is an attorney too. I wouldn't be surprised if she were involved in all this.

She is very clearly suspected, based upon the RJ article.

Did you hear about that guy you used to know? Supposedly a "stop work order" posted on his door.

Actually, I don't even know what that is.

That is a crazy story. He should do hard time.

                • If funded, a large portion of that Go Fund Me will probably go to the attorneys taking over the case.

                  • They're nearly 1/10,000th of the way to reaching their fundraising goal. I'm checking #Lighttheworld to see if there's a recommendation for bailing out felonious attorneys.

                      Spoiler for how this ends:
                      It won't be funded.

I would hope that dude is smart enough to make a very clear paper trail showing that he is not taking any of the donated funds. Still, the optics of an attorney setting up a GoFundMe account for his clients to recoup their trust funds are poor, at best. While it may not be a per se violation of the rules of ethical conduct, it strikes me as peculiar and off putting.

13 million is quite a bit of money. Its hard to spend that much and not have any assets left at all, unless it was done over a very long periord of time.
                          PLesa excuse the tpyos.

He advertised regularly and had three offices. They weren't super lavish, but they were in nice parts of town. I'm sure he paid himself well too. I'm guessing he just kept dipping in the account to keep the business running and keep up the appearance of success.

his wife worked at his firm with him. it would be shocking if she weren't involved.
