Our neighbors and good friends just sent their oldest to Mexico. I was really apprehensive opening that link. How sad.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostA great young man from my previous ward is in Mexico - not even my son, so nothing compared to you - and I still felt a bit of a chill. So he was found dead in a hammock at his apartment with a bag over his head, a cord around his neck, and his hands tied. But they are not ruling out suicide?
All is quite in SLC about this...More speculation on suicide. A source has had contact with Peggy Fletcher Stack, who said it was her understanding the death was the result of suicide, the Salt Lake Tribune doesn’t cover suicides. Still no word from Church HQ. -
Oddly, there’s just radio silence from Salt Lake. This Week in Mormons has contacted the Public Affairs department of the Church, but has yet to receive a comment. Admittedly, it is strange that when dealing with the other numerous missionary deaths over the past year, the Church has been pretty public about things, but all of these have been accidents or medical tragedies. We understand the Church treading lightly in the wake of a murder investigation, but it s certainly disconcerting that this happened five days ago and there hasn’t even been acknowledgement from Salt Lake.Spoiler for Contains link with a picture of the dead missionary.:

If only the Salt Lake Tribune had some resources to delve into this. You know like reporters or investigators or something."I'm going to go back to CUF now, where the censorship is less, the average IQ is higher, and we don't have to deal with so much of this nonsense. Goodbye." - SoonerCoug

Another missionary dies in mexico...
http://www.deseretnews.com/article/8...-injuries.htmlSALT LAKE CITY — A Mormon missionary from Idaho died Wednesday from injuries he received after coming in contact with a live electrical wire.
Colt Daniel Kunz, 20, from Victor, Idaho, died Wednesday while serving in the church's Mexico Tampico Mission, said Ruth Todd, spokeswoman for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
"Elder Kunz arrived in Mexico less than one month ago. In his short service he had been described as the kind of missionary every mission president wants to receive. Our thoughts and prayers are with Elder Kunz's family, friends and others who mourn his passing," Todd said.

http://www.ksl.com/index.php?sid=272...&s_cid=queue-1SALT LAKE CITY — An 18-year-old missionary for the LDS Church was killed in Southern California Thursday when he was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle.
It was the church's second missionary death in two days. Both missionaries had been in their assigned missions for less than a month.
Elder Andrew Edward Page, 18, from Charlotte, N.C., was hit while riding on Newburgh Street in Azusa, Calif., a little after 4 p.m. Thursday, according to Azusa police. He had been in the Mexico City Missionary Training Center for six weeks and had arrived in California about three weeks before the accident.

More missionaries overall equals more deaths.Originally posted by SCcoug View PostAre we in the midst of a spike in missionary deaths or does it just seem that way?"You interns are like swallows. You shit all over my patients for six weeks and then fly off."

Edit: The funeral is planned for the Rocky River building, so maybe scratch that above.

I read the article For that Woman had to bury a husband a few decades earlier than she would of wanted too. Now she has to bury her son. Pretty tough trials. Seems like though she is more comforting to the newspaper readers than she is getting comforted. Interesting seems like when you go to comfort someone they spend more time actually comforting you than you do comforting them.

http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/l...es-us-250999852 Mormon Missionaries Die in Taiwan; 1 Dies in US
Two Mormon missionaries serving in Taiwan and another in Oklahoma have died.
Connor Benjamin Thredgold, 19, of Springville, Utah, and Yu Peng Xiong, 24, of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, were found dead Saturday in an apartment they shared in Taiwan, the Mormon church in a statement Saturday to The Associated Press.
Authorities said they do not suspect foul play, but they haven't determined a cause of death, church spokesman Eric Hawkins said.
In the U.S., Nancy Ann Vea, 19, of West Jordan, Utah, died from injuries sustained in a Tulsa car crash on Friday, Hawkins said.
Only a few missionaries die each year, and it is rare for deaths to occur within such a short period, Hawkins said.
