Not necessarily, but he's certainly been instrumental in not stopping them.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

        - BYU hiring a young mother as full time faculty
        - Women praying in General Conference
        - Launch of LDS-LGBT website
        - Elimination from the CHoI of "being gay" as a sin
        - Elder Jensen's apology for the church's hurtful role in Prop 8
        - The calling of an openly gay man to a ward leadership position
        - The hiring of an openly gay man as faculty at BYU (granted he is married to a woman so that might cancel out the hiring)

        any others?
        That is impressive.

Don't forget the decision to go all out on Prop 8. Seems that would cancel out your last five in terms of significance.

My question earlier about TSM's involvement with all this stuff extends to the Church's involvement with Prop 8. I'm not 100% convinced that he is the catalyst for any of that stuff.

I'm generally unfamiliar with the byu, but I believe the hiring of a mother with young children as FT faculty in Religion is the trumpeted development.
The byu hires women/mothers in other departments all the time. No big deal.

Doesn't it make the last five more significant? Its not very often someone makes an about face like that in such a relatively short period of time.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.
