So the real objective of that incredibly narcissistic statement was to express support for female ordination? Alrighty then.

If you think that insulting niku will get him back to church then I think you're wrong. Time to reevaluate your reactivation strategy, bro.

Jeff is perhaps the only person who has been a complete jerk about the whole thing. He makes a wonderful stereotype.

Maybe someone should try instructing Niku to call his wife to repentance for her objection to not being included in the original email and declining to accept the visit? I think Lebowski might know someone who could pull it off...

I think he's trying the abusive husband route. I think it has about as good of a shot as anything does at this point.

There are a couple on here that hide behind anonymity but I have found that without exception every personal contact I've had with members has been completely positive, at least in their intentions. The execution has been haphazard at times but never a question of where their heart is. That has made my transition very nearly seamless (although they consistently lament my absence during church which does get tiresome since most were bored to tears when we were all active).

Dude, I am so sorry I made light of your comment about your clueless stake members. That was a real jerk move on my part.

One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.

Yesterday I was roaming the halls during SS as I had some people I needed to see. I ran into a non-believing member (closet atheist that comes to support the family, only a handful in the ward know he's non-believing) in the hall. He promptly told me he was holding up the wall to which I remarked that his activity sounded much more interesting than listening to another correlated lesson on some chapters in Deuteronomy. In some small ways I'm jealous of his lack of guilt but still silently applaud that he has the wherewithal to attend church at all.

FTR, I don't find church boring, in fact I really enjoy church....just not SS on many occasions.

Speaking of MarkGrace, I was in Munich last week for a couple of days and was impressed by how frequently everyone there drank beer and coffee. germans love drinking beer and they love drinking coffee. I thought to myself, "Markgrace would love it here."
