I really wondered how the church would handle this. I'm sure they wanted fathers to keep taking their sons to priesthood meeting, going out to eat before or grabbing some desert somewhere after and making it a bonding time for each. I have a friend that goes to church twice a year, the April and October priesthood session with his father. Damn women are going to ruin everything.

I have a bunch of Catholic friends that go to church twice a year as well but it is on christmas eve and easter. Maybe going to church twice a year would be a good tradition. The rest of the time we can watch it on TV. Do they still have that sacrament meeting show on BYUtv?Originally posted by RC Vikings View PostI really wondered how the church would handle this. Music and the Spoken Word! Just 30 minutes and there's an inspirational message and some good music. Works for me. Fits in nicely between the political talks shows.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostI have a bunch of Catholic friends that go to church twice a year as well but it is on christmas eve and easter. Ouch. The OW movement plans to try to attend priesthood again. Church responds with a hardline response:
http://www.deseretnews.com/article/8...-dialogue.html
Tells them they are out of line, a fringe minority group (like that matters), and are protestors therefore will be restricted to the free speech zone.
Unreal. Why not just let them in? What would that hurt? Men are allowed to attend the women's meeting and unordained and even non-LDS men are allowed to attend priesthood."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Men are allowed to attend women's meeting because no man wants to attend women's meeting. That said, I'd be fine if women wanted to attend priesthood meeting if there are seats available after all Priesthood holders have a chance first.

If they sat there quietly and well behaved like the men, I can't see what the problem is.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostOuch. The OW movement plans to try to attend priesthood again. Church responds with a hardline response:

But they won't. They'll just gossip and talk about their kids.

To which part of her response are you referring?Originally posted by Surfah View PostI am not sure why the Church chose to respond the way they did in this matter. But I also don't think Kelly's response to the letter is fair or accurate either."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? This. It's a small quibble of mine as I know she is speaking generally but it's not entirely true of OW supporters:Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostTo which part of her response are you referring?
"It's striking they would direct us to the free-speech zones," Kelly said. We aren't against the church, we are the church.""Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

I was going to be offended by the church's response but then I noticed that it was crafted and delivered by a woman, which I am sure was completely coincidental. since a woman is saying that these protests are inappropriate, it is a lot harder to take offense.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.
