And why? Was it due to a calling? Old age?
High Priests, how old were you when you got called up?

32, because I was called into the bishopric. In that stake young HPs were pretty common because willing and (bodily) able leadership was (and remains) scarce.Last edited by LA Ute; 05-19-2013, 02:54 PM.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

28. The first morning the bishop said, "You owe me. You were about to be called as EQ President but I decided to give you this sweet gig [2d counselor] instead." I was, and shall forever be, grateful to that kind man.

Lol. My dad just told me he was my age when he was made a high priest so that has me worried. Fortunately I think I'll be in EQ for a few more years due to the demographics of our new ward.Originally posted by FN Phat View PostAre you still on track Surfah?"Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

31. Called to be on the HC, where I served for less than a year before moving out of the stake (but it was a sweet calling).
If I remember correctly, my wife laughed when the SP extended the call, which may have given him a bit of a pause, especially since he didn't know me at all at the time, and I was the first HC man he called after being promoted to be the SP.
In the years since, I have not served in any callings that required me to be a HP, unless you count being an assistant in the HP group leadership. I probably have the thinnest resume of any HP here. Before becoming a HP I had never been in an EQ presidency or any PEC calling. My "highest" calling at the time had been 2nd counselor in the YM presidency. Not that I'm complaining. I have been Choir Director for the last four years and am happy to stay here for a while more.
The first couple of years I didn't really like being a HP; I was the youngest HP in our ward by a ways, and I kept going to EQ activities (at their invitation). I've grown into it now (plus I am in a ward with a good number of younger HPs).

34, bishopric in a ward full of geezers. I'm now 40 and still haven't attended a HP lesson meeting or activity yet. (edit) now that I think about it, I've probably attended 2-5 activities/lessons in the HP.Last edited by smokymountainrain; 05-19-2013, 04:31 PM.I'm like LeBron James.

40 or 41, I think (calling).
I used to hate being the oldest guy in EQ. Now I hate being the youngest guy in HP. I'm pretty much stuck in the middle-age equivalent of the awkward "tween" years. And I had thought that that phase of my life was mercifully over.Nothing lasts, but nothing is lost.
