I noticed this letter to the editor on the Standard Examiner (Ogden newspaper) website and am curious what CougarStadium posters think of this. I for one agree with the letter but I am not surprised this has happened. I'm sure the people at Weber State that made the decision are unaware of BKP's statements on gays, feminists, and intellectuals. I also found the comments to the letter interesting.

The author of that letter has to have the worst name I've ever heard. Even worse than Joey Joe Joe Junior Shabadoo.

It seems really odd to name a building at a public university after a local religious leader."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Generally education buildings are named after the person that donated the most money to its construction. Did Packer write a big check or something?
PS. That is a lousy name."Friendship is the grand fundamental principle of Mormonism" - Joseph Smith Jr.

An anonymous private donor made a large donation contingent on using the McKay name on the building.Originally posted by RC Vikings View PostIt seems strange. I always wondered about the David O. McKay center at UVU and how that came about."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Alan is a grandson of McKay. It's not that UCCU upped the ante to get their name on the building. The original donors didn't think it was appropriate to have the McKay name on the outside given some of the types of concerts and/or MMA-style things going on inside. So they put the McKay name on the new education building and left the gym to someone else. UCCU stepped up after the fact (to get some advertising next to the freeway?).Originally posted by Copelius View PostApparently UCCU upped the ante.
