            Well, maybe the weird comments from Lehi, Nephi, etc. were "edited out" from what we have today. Similar to what happens in our own time. We "know" that much of the ancient record was abridged. Maybe "abridged" is code for "free from the ramblings which we now believe were spoken as a common man."

            Moses probably said a lot of outrageous things. However, either they weren't recorded or they were edited out.

            I doubt "scrubbing" or "sanitizing" of the Word is a new phenomenon. The Council at Nicea seemed to have a pretty good handle on the concept.

                People that have been dead a long time get many crazy statements attributed to them. And some people take them seriously in the church. John Taylor on Public Schools keep your kids out of the Celestial Kingdom. Many for justifying disobeying Civil Law. Mormon Chronicles. I don't think too many crazy things were said in conference for a long time and some things were for that time only. However prophecies can bring out weeds. Many do with 2nd coming Ten Tribes, and Missiouri Temple. People saying there will be people here that live to see the Missiouri temple rebuilt. Prophecy of Orson Pratt or someone. Another one James E Talmage 1916 there will be those of you that will live to see the 10 tribes return and people living here will read there record in this tabernacle. Everyone that attended that meeting I think is dead now.

                That comes from a belief that the ten tribes are off hiding somewere anyway and I think they are dispersed will be restored but are not off hiding somewhere like many people claim. JFS 1936 there will be people alive now that see the 2nd coming. 1952 Stake Conference said same thing I heard. Millenialism is not preached as much anymore. No one knows when 2nd coming will occur and many things have to happen. BRM changed his mind on it writing Millenial Messiah. Said won't happen in grandkids lifetime a lot to happen. Thing is they are not fallible but some prophecies I think were mere wishful thinking or misunderstanding.
