any, most?? I will answer "any", I don't know number "most" means.

There have been some idiotic comments referring to dress. To think someone thinks otheres make up how they were treated is just puting ones the head in the sand.

The cultural "extremists" have cover as they often are the most devoted. However, those who choose to judge based on clothing worn, number of times someone attends, if they drink diet coke or wear a white shirt, have taken away from the spirit of attending church for more than a few.

Just talked to my manager who in fact came in and told me his daughter and SIL are getting married in the Temple. He was pleased for them, but told me they aren't going to get me out to church so I can go to the Temple though. Whenever I show, I get hounded by well meaning people.

Oh, and yes JL, I freely admit I'm a wimp. And accuse you of being no less braver than I am by wearing a purple tie. :bringit: OK, maybe 3% more brave.
lol. I am not claiming to be a model of bravery. It just seemed funny that you would be calling people out for being wimpy, given the circumstances.

Do you think a women who wears pants to church should be denied a recommend based on that?

I think he was expressing doubt that they have temple recommends, not for any reason related to trousers at church.

I'll be honest here, the events of this weekend (not the wear pants thing) have really shaken me to my core...and to the point where, I don't care who you are, we've all got to stop being nasty to and about those people with whom we have disagreements.

If people want to articulate their reasoning for why they believe it was a good thing or why they did not participate (as I've seen here and on other platforms) that's fine. If they want to lower the general IQ of the conversation by name calling and explaining away, there just isn't a place for that among any Christian group, let alone within the confines of a ward "family."

I've just got so very little patience for the catty and petty behavior I've seen displayed in this debate on both sides, and it has left me pretty disheartened overall.

I'll admit that I've had to back away from the keyboard a couple of times. You all have seen me lose it now and again, and I wanted very much to not be a part of that because it doesn't help my point that we did nothing more than show up for church (and that's what we did - we didn't so much as talk about it).

The good of it is showing up. The response to my wife and my blog post has been overwhelmingly (though not completely) positive and it turns out that not a few people in our ward wanted to talk to us about it and get our take. Overall this has been a positive experience, but it's been a reminder that sometimes it's hard to stand as part of a minority ideology. Something you'd think we as a church would know by now.

By FAR the worst things I'm seeing from the anti-pantites are coming from women.
Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

My wife told me that she really didn't want to cause any commotion or distract. She has long been outed as a less active/believing member. In fact, she was glad that she only got one disapproving comment. She just wanted to show some solidarity to those who would have known what was going on. A couple of kids back from BYU came up to her and talked to her for more than usual. They don't really know her that well, but were very friendly to her. My wife suspected that they knew why she was wearing pants, and they wanted to acknowledge that to her.

So in that small way, she was glad that she could show solidarity to a cause she supports.

I guess that is what I mean by judging.

Let's see who are likely to not have recommends.

                  Ladies wearing pants.

                  Persons with tatoo's

Person sipping caffeinated drinks in public.

Guy on golf course with an Oduhl's.

Male wearing a dress shirt without a tie.

                  Beard or long hair.

I imagine there are a few more.

Somehow gals with boob jobs don't seem to catch much wrath or doubt as to their worthiness.

No.... and I've no dog in the fight. I just have a hunch the agenda crowd doesn't have a balanced center of gravity from which to push.

I could agree with you depending on how "BIG" the agenda is. However, I think it is sad that the actors on the other side of the issue who point fingers and criticize are "likely" to have recommends.

I think they possibly could be those the scriptures say Jesus will say, get the hades out of here, I never knew ye.

I'll bet there are just a lot of well intentioned people who think they are protecting something that is sacred to them. Christ will be the judge.

He certainly will and like you said all we are doing is just betting.

My guess is there are going to be a lot of surprised people. Actually it isn't a guess. I can't quote the scripture, but I am sure you know the one I am talking about, which tells us there are going to be surprised people who thought they had it made and didn't.

I would guess that O'Doul's drinking golfers (especially in Utah) are largely active mormon. There is no reason to drink that swill unless you are worried about ecclesiastical endorsements of one sort or another.

I think this is actually pretty telling...
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah
