Care for some Caffeine?

Yes, especially when it could be easily determined if there is demand for caffeinated soft drinks by simply adding some of them and letting the market decide.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostNo kidding. They need to fire her and find someone who can lie with a little more panache and creativity. That was embarrassing.

If they allow caffeine what's next? Beards? Long hair? Dates going past midnight? I think they are being smart to keep caffeine away

Yep. What reason would the Students give for saying this is disobedient? If the church said caffeine is okay, do they think it is a sin to request that BYU serve approved beverages? Ironically, I think the issue is that they don't want to believe the church statement. They should direct their complaints to church headquarters.Originally posted by pellegrino View PostSome of the quotes in that article prove the stupidity of Mormons when it comes to the word of wisdom. That the director of dining services would get emails by students on both sides of the issue and that the student who started the fb page would get calls from fellow students saying that he was disloyal and disobedient is just flat out ridiculous. And we Mormons wonder why others think we're weird.

they should probably direct their complaints to their parents because that is basically who makes the caffeine decision for you growing up.Originally posted by calicoug View PostYep. BYU accidentally puts caffeinated Coke in vending machines, which results in a run on the machine selling out immediately. Carrie Jenkins clarifies this was mistake by the vendors and the purchasing decisions have not changed. Previously she said BYU didn't sell caffeine not due to policy but due to their vendors perceiving lack of demand.
I wonder if this is normal economic behavior. Company accidentally changes product offering. New product sells like crazy. Company offers apology, discontinues product, and reconfirms the lack of demand for the product.

To be fair, she has been given a pretty much impossible assignment, so it's hard to know where the institutional incompetence ends and her own incompetence begins. But I agree that her body of work--going back at least to the controversy over the Rodin exhibit--is impressive.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostOne more in a long series of whoppers for Carrie Jenkins.
