  • Care for some Caffeine?

Despite what was reported, the Church does not prohibit the use of caffeine. The Church’s health guidelines, known in our scriptures as “the Word of Wisdom” (Doctrine and Covenants 89), prohibits alcoholic drinks, smoking or chewing of tobacco and “hot drinks” — taught by Church leaders to refer specifically to tea and coffee. The restriction does not go beyond this.

Can we get a clarification of 'mild barley drink'?

I don't understand why they say the WoW prohibits alcoholic drinks. That's just patently false. It prohibits some alcoholic drinks, but not all.

While the WoW doesn't prohibit all alcoholic drinks, the Church currently does!

This may be one of the clearest, most official clarifications on the caffeine issue in my lifetime.

This will put to rest any do-gooders trying to push their own higher law which proscribes Barq's root beer, Sunkist and Mountain Dew.

              Boom. Case closed.

I know that Mountain Dew Voltage is the only true soda on the face of the earth.

Agree, someone needs to let them know that, similar to the word caffeine, the word alcohol is not found in section 89 of the d&c

which is what they should say when they talk about the WoW, because the text only talks about wine and strong liquor.

Looks like Macy's had some advance notice of this release.

For some people I know, this announcement will be treated with the same awe and reverence once accorded the '78 announcement on the priesthood.

It's weird that BYU doesn't sell caffeinated Coke on campus. The people running the Church need to tell the people running BYU that Coke is okay.

Let the floodgates open. Cold, cascading waterfalls of Mountain Dew, Dr. Pepper, Coke, ...
