I love this story; the Pope meeting with this nutty county clerk who won't issue marriage licenses to homosexuals. Everyone on the left was falling all over themselves to praise this Pope because is so enlightened! But it turns out he may not be so enlightened. Of course he's not. How naïve could they be. He's the leader of a very old religion, the oldest Christian religion. Duh. People were only praising the progressive quality of his sayings--just platitudes, really--because they were handicapping them--because he's the Pope. They were acting like he's a wayward child on the mend.

"The brief meeting between Mrs. Kim Davis and Pope Francis at the Apostolic Nunciature in Washington, DC has continued to provoke comments and discussion. In order to contribute to an objective understanding of what transpired I am able to clarify the following points:

"Pope Francis met with several dozen persons who had been invited by the Nunciature to greet him as he prepared to leave Washington for New York City. Such brief greetings occur on all papal visits and are due to the Pope's characteristic kindness and availability. The only real audience granted by the Pope at the Nunciature was with one of his former students and his family.

"The Pope did not enter into the details of the situation of Mrs. Davis and his meeting with her should not be considered a form of support of her position in all of its particular and complex aspects."

Not only is he what I said, his judgment sucks. So many other more deserving people he could have visited in his brief time here. He goes from appearing grand and magnanimous to ridiculous, meeting in a secret place with this awful, shallow woman.

But he is the darling of the media. Curiously, the media, excepting Fox, largely ignored that visit. It reminds a bit how the media swept under the rug the indiscretions of FDR and JFK. Before JL says "stop it", I am not comparing the nature of the indiscretions but comparing the nature of the media ignoring activities by its darlings.
