Non-Seq provides what is IMO the correct answer for why this officer should be put on leave.
Or when an officer is asked to protect a criminal. They dont care what happens to them but it's part of the job.

    • When it comes to knowing what police can, should, or generally do, Eddie Jones is finding new ways to reveal that he is a dunce. #sjbh

Right, it's a good answer. I just see playing around in a parade a pretty nonessential part of a police officers job. I guess I'm just too practical.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

This is a true libertarian. Leave traffic and event management to the free market. No need for law enforcement.

I don't think being IN the parade constitutes traffic management.

If the police officer in question isn't able to serve the entire community, he has no business being a cop.
Agreed, it would be a bad precedent if a police officer could choose not to take certain assignments. I will see situations where officers are saving the life of someone who just shot one of their own. If you can and are expected to do that, you can certainly ride in front of a gay parade.

Some jobs will require you to do things you may not want to do. If you have a problem with that, you should seek employment that doesn't require that.

I think that goes for the attorney general of the United States too.

I say leave traffic and event management to citizen-police, and not pump money into greedy corporations that will just in turn use their powerful traffic and event management lobby to legislate requirements for traffic and event management to be part of even the most routine and mundane of everyday life. That is what I say.
